i'm not sure of the answer myself but i was on cycleworld, com reading an article about the vf series hondas. they got to talking about honda's first sport bike. well '75 was the first year of the 750f or supersport and honda used supersport on many bikes before then. i owned a '69 cb350 supersport at one time. supersport hondas had higher output motors than the normal bikes. if i remember right my '69 ss was rated as having three more hp than a regular cb350. the ss was the sport model

to me the only difference in the cb and ss models was cb were non leg threatning exhast and ss model stood for super scorched leg exhast ...as for sport bike just about all the honda twins from day one were sport bikes of way over achiveing bikes for there time ....my honda ss160 was bullet proof bike that endured fla sugar sand and me who wound it tight before every shift was made ....it was one of the few machanical things i was able to sell instead of scrap during this time in life for me :hihihi:

Direct from Wikipedia, undeniably the last word.

The Honda CB750 is a motorcycle built in several model series between 1969–2003 and 2007 that is recognized as a milestone for Honda's successful introduction of a transverse, overhead camshaft inline four-cylinder engine that has ever since been the dominant sport bike configuration

In 1966 I purchased a 305 Dream and thought it would run right out from under me on the ride home. Sporty enough for me. Prior to that, I had been riding a little 90 Bridgestone. What a difference. :Egyptian: :Egyptian:

those were all second generation hondas william in my day it was the 250-300 superhawk-...there was also the 300 - 150 dreams....even cb150 ... these were before the 160-305 versions and the first ss models were street scramblers with high pipes and not near the garding on the mufflers as the cl models that were yrs later ...the early models all had chrome side plates on the gas tanks slanted forward cylinders ,,,unlike cb-cl bikes with there stait up clylinders of the 125-175-350 with there two tone paint gas tanks ....the early ss were just high pipes cbs and the cbs were after the first dreams and superhawks ....the superhawks are quite rare bikes there were 10 dreams to every one superhawk it seemed....the 250 models being the rarest for sure....

The CB 360T was the best sport bike to me at 16 years old.
It had enough power to get me up to 75 mph which was enough most of the time.
In the twisties it really shined.
Man those were the days of being invincible!

a friend of one of my neighbors friends had a cb77 ( 305 ) superhawk. i hadn't forgotten about them joe cb72 were the 250's. i aske this question on another forum and one reply was a '59 benly supersport. when i mentioned the 350 ss i owned i was just trying to show sledge there were sport modles from honda before the 750 was introduced. the 750's title was the first modern superbike
