beave we do the same kind of things ive done trhat more than once :hihihi:
Hey Mac, was the rear drum replaced as well on both sides, what did they do? Did your shakiness go away, Joe I was stuck, I had to think of something quick because it was a Sunday and I was in a real pickle and far far from home..

Beav, I did the rear brakes a few weeks ago and knew the adjusters were not working correctly. At the time, I could only get the right side adjuster before we went away and planned on replacing the left adjuster this weekend.....didn't make it that far! Only drove 69 miles since the rear brakes were done, but the left side kept loosening and not letting the shoes stay close to the drum. When I made the hard stop....the cylinder caught the very tip of the shoe and twisted it which popped the lower part of the shoe off. Next time I hit the brakes...there was nothing there to hold the piston in the wheel cylinder and it blew right out!

Got another new set of shoes, added the new left side adjuster, new wheel cylinder, all new brake fluid (cause there was none left :smilie_happy: ), cut the drums and back on the road!

While at the shop, they looked at the front end for me and it turns out BEAV was RIGHT!..the inner tie rods were both worn out. So they replaced both the inner and outer tie rod ends....did an alignment, rotated and rebalanced the wheels again.

Got it on the road and the shimmey/shaking has been cut down significantly! :clapping: :lust:

BUT...it is still there. :crying: (Only minor now) Everything else checked out OK...struts, ball joints. They did not pick up that there was any excessive movement in the wheel bearing assemblies, but with the condition of the tie rod ends and mileage (129K) I may still replace the wheel bearing assemblies (since I have them already sitting in the garage)...just not this weekend!

Actually it was someone else [Apple] that said tie rod first I just remember my friends problem and agreed, I'm sure you will get it...It was also a Ford vehicle..

It is definately a combination of issues...face it...the car is 10 years old and has 129K miles on it...some things are sure to wear out! But, replacing these items is far cheaper than a new car and this one still runs great!

I know you said the wheels were balanced, but I'd check them again just to make for darn sure they are on.... I bubble balance ours ha ha old school but they are perfect...
