Hello everybody my name is Keith and I am addicted to old bikes. Well riding anyway. I just got back on 2 wheels after having to sell my last bike during a 2 year stretch of unemployment. I found a 1981 Interstate in pretty decent condition on craigslist a couple of days ago. After riding into the sun with a too tall and scratched windshield I promptly cut about 3 inches off, polished and waxed it and am all better now. Gotta love these old classics. Reliable, cool looking, respectable power and not too hard on the pocket book.

Welcome aboard. 81 is a nice model with good gearing. Dirty scratched shields are not at all fun riding into the sun or night traffic.

Welcome to the forums Keith. I love it when a new member is new to GoldWings and one can just sense how "got" they are :lust: . I never owned and never will own anything but a Wing after my first.

Yea I don't care to look through a windshield much less than a scratched/cloudy one. Some elbow work with Meguiar's PlastX clear polish and cleaner followed with some liquid wax went a long way toward clearing up what windshield I have left.
I had also shortened one on my Venture Royale several years ago.
Hey I got poking through the cubby holes on the bike and found the original owners manual and even a tool kit complete with feeler gauges and 4 spare spark plugs.

Hey everybody thanks for warm welcome. This is my 2nd 1981 Gold Wing and is by far the better of the 2 in every way and the other one wasn't bad. They really are a pleasure to ride. I will need to do something about the brakes though, they seem a bit weak.

Flushing the brakes with fresh fluid and installing new pads may be all you need to get plenty of stopping power.

Welcome to the CGW Forums, Fair Weather!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
I hear ya on the work space in the gee-rage! My 2 car has room for one car and the 'Wing....barely!
