I've not tried them or read of anyone who has on a wing. I did read of them being used on a KZ650. Supposedly works very well and can be stashed in odd places. His setup used what looked like flashlight batteries wired together. I don't recall the type now.

I have read of a guy using 12 volt emergency light dry cell batteries.
They worked but have very little reserve and cranking capacity.
What I know about them is enough to know they won't work because they're designed for very slow drain and not repeated charge cycles.

Honda Goldwing Odyssey batteries - $135 (portland)

Listed on craigs list in Portland oregon
That is an AGM battery, not dry cell.
Well they sort of are dry cell but not really.
But yeah, lotsa guys running AGM batteries, Odyssey and others.

I have an Odyssey and happy with it.
Best part is no acid to deal with and never have to add water.
Put it in and forget about it.

I think $135 is a little high but if you don't have to pay shipping it might be ok.

3 years and running on my Extreme Magna AGM ($99. at AutoZone) and it is also as near to dry as you can get!

+1

Ni-Cad and Li-Ion are rechargeable dry-cell batteries.
Think cordless drills and laptop batteries.
Most laptop battery packs are actually comprised of rechargeable AA's. Same with cordless drills.
Many racers (strip racers) run Li-Ion packs as total-loss systems and over-volt their ignitions. 19V-26V is common.
Most packs for the strip are homemade.
