Well...I've said it before, but THIS time, it's the real deal. I have, FINALLY, seen it ALL! :ahem:

We got a new guy at the shop last week...'posed to be good....I now have to wonder about some folk's idea of "Good". :builder:
2002 Musturd we did a clutch job in a few months back. Comes in with a noise, eventually determined to be the throw out bearing. Out comes the trans/clutch, in goes a new clutch assy. I hear them fire it up around 5pm. Around 5:45, one of the guys comes to me and says it won't go into gear. I say bleed the clutch. He say "Ain't hydraulic...it's a cable." I say set the self adjuster. He say won't move. I gives up and walks out there to see whuts whut. Sure nuff, pedal is nice and snug...clutch should be werkin, but it ain't. Pedal to the floor, and it will not allow gear engagement. So, they raise it up for me to check out the fork/cable. I sees it has a new aftermarket cable, which does away with the self adjuster, and the cable is tight. If anything, the clutch should be slipping. Only suggestion I have is the guy put the clutch disc in backerds.
Out comes the trans...off comes the bellhousing...off comes the clutch pressure plate...off comes the clutch disc...oh...wait...the disc isn't coming off...not coming off....still not coming offf....HUH? :headscratch:

Two screwdrivers and a pry bar later, off comes the disc. Has some kind of funky stuff on it, between the disc and flywheel. I ax if the disc had a sticker/decal on it that said "Flywheel side", as they sometimes do. "NO...no sticky". Hmmmm
Take me pocket screwdriver, and scrape some of the stuff off the disc. Looks amazingly enough like Lock-Tite.....and it is. I had given the new guy a new bottle of Lock-Tite earlier...apparently, I didn't specifically tell him to NOT put it on the disc, or the flywheel.
Yeppers...the disc had lock-tited itself to the flywheel, with a little help from a guy that 'posed to be good.....
NOW....he also twisted off some of the pressure plate bolts in the flywheel....also dipped in lock-tite.

Guess who gets the blame?
Thaaaas rite...ME....I gave the stuff to him.... :Doh2:

Top THAT one!

I will say...this has to be a really good testimonial for Lock-Tite!

Was that blue or red loctite, makes a difference ya know :ahem: :smilie_happy:

But Joel, isn't that what loktite is for, holding stuff from slipping loose?
Maybe your buddy thought it would help keep the clutch from slipping, LOL.

I had a guy once, his deck was missing a few cards for sure and he was one of those know it alls.

Well I got so fed up with this smooth talking A hole I made it my mission in life to trip him up.

One day he was having trouble using the Sawzall.
When we cut pipe with it sometimes if the blades teeth got chipped it will "catch" what your cutting so I thought,
"I got a good one" and told him to "try putting the Sawzall in reverse" and walked away.

I could not believe what I saw, he looked for that reverse switch at least 5 minutes :smilie_happy:
I didn't hear much more from in before I finally canned em.

It looks like you have yourself someone that you will need to watch over alot ..I'm not a ace mechanic but I know better than that..He's not as good as someone say's he is..Guy's like that you need to teach, and teach them the right way of doing things..You have your work cut out for ya..Sorry you got the blame, I had that happen to me too many times in the past. :Egyptian:

That's funny stuff! I can probably top that sometime this summer. I work in a Union shop with rocket scientists. Only a matter of time.

the first downfall is thinking you know everything .... because theres always more to learn
loc-tite is marvelous stuff... had a run in with some just last weekend... dried while I turned the nut on the top of the shock damper(after replacing the bumpers) and I was talking and not turning fast enough.. LOL.
had to backoff and start over :D
but its all good now.

sorry joel i can't top that one ....... yet but its still early in the year
maybe i can , i forgot about the lady that spent 20 minutes looking for the start button in her car..... if it has a key there is no start button

You need to get out more often.
A lot of the new cars have start buttons now.

wasn't me it was a coustomer, you read that wrong the lady spent 20 minutes looking for the start botton. i walked over to her car and heard the door chime and told her to just trun the key

That's what I mean, A lot of the new ones the last couple of years have a big old START button on the dash.
Key in the ignition will still make the ding sound.
Plus I always check to see if it is in park or neutral, cause a lot of them won't start in gear.

My brother when he first got his Tundra couldn't get it to come out of park.

He stuggled with it for an hour then called the dealer.

He forgot you have to put your foot on the brake  :whistling:

i was just wondering why you said i need to get out more. now back on the subject a guy took delivery of a new focus today and asked my coworker what the " L " was for next to the shifter, boy i'm glad he didn't get push button start
