We have a new (to us) 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan.
The shifter is marked P, R, N, D in that order.

I never noticed but the wife did (she does drive it all the time. I use my Willys) that at the bottom of the shifter slot the slot is T-d left and right. That is how you select the lower gears manually. By tapping the shifter to the right to go down through the gears, and to the left to go up. Or maybe it is the other way around.
 My sign is now showing in neon day-glo lettering. :good:

Now to show my age:
Remember the old joke about the guy explaining to the dealership why the transmission was in pieces in the trunk?

"This kid challenged me to a race. So I said Yeah. I put her in 'D' for drag, then 'L' for lurch and when I popped her into 'R' for race all hell broke loose!"

ford did away with that style and went with the paddle shifters on the steeringwheel. the shift lever selects park, reverse, netural, drive and manual. by shifting to manual you can select low gear or any other or shift each gear . i've had to explain the paddle shifters to a few ford exec's

Is that like talking to Polititians? You know where you have to dumb down the conversation so your pet monkey can understand it? :Doh2:

:smilie_happy: Hard to beleive how some people are but that was funny about the lock-tite. Check this one out, I work on tractors and sometimes we get some new one in that need a little tough up on the paint, will I handed this guy a can of spray paint and told him to shack it untill the ball inside stopped rattling, he stood there shaking it for about an hour and then he came to me and told me it wont stop rattling.

a guy took deliveryof his new car today and i asked him " have you ever used push button start before ?" he replys " yes ". ten minutes later he is still sitting in the building so i ask him if there is a problem. he replys "yes, i can't get the car to start". i reply to him " you do know you have to put your foot on the brake, it gives you a message on the dash to press brake to start ". his reply " oh "
