That play seems a bit loose.
I'd put the new one's on, double and triple check it's timed right, start 'er up and let it warm up a bit then recheck the belt tension. You are letting the tensioner springs do the adjusting right?

For the most part. Looking at the front the left side tension is trickier. The valve spring pressure is wanting to slack the belt when on the timing marks. Probably need to turn it a bit till no pressure is on it.

Also, I noticed some scoring on the exhaust lifters during reassembly. I am not sure if they are chromed, but it appears that a little chrome is flaked off.

Seems to run fine. Nice and smooth, but with out the ticking from the bent valve! Couldn't have done it with out the help from Dan and everybody else.

Still have to change the timing belts and address the scored exhaust lifters. Wondering if I should do anything to the other head. No reason to really?

If the compression is good I'd leave the other head alone.

I'm wondering about the scored valve lifter you mention. Are you referring to the rocker arm where it rides on the cam?
If so, if you can you feel the score with a fingernail might want to take care of that while everything is apart.

I've had these cams ground and the rocker surface reworked, not cheap. Go with a used set. I have good complete assemblies if you need them.

Rocker arm is difinately scored. Everything is back together now and I am going for a ride. The exhaust rocker arms still need changed as well as the timing belts. Wont take long as I am an expert now. :head bang: Cant I just change the rockers? Everything should be the same right?

It may run for many thousands of miles with them scored and never be a problem I just can't say for certain.

If the rockers are scored then the cam probably is also.

I'll be working late so I won't be able to reply til late tonight or tomorrow.

I'm waiting on the USPS boxes so shipping should be cheaper from now on.
