I went with the GoPro Hero4 black 4k.
Still need to get an external mic.

Looks good skiri.
Sound is good too, can hear the bike pretty good.

It's running the single carb we jetted?

Yes, this is with the single carb.

The camera was mounted 3~4" right side of the helmet (as you can see in the rear view mirror) so it is partially inside the windshield I think. But when I used it on CL125A there was no windshield but I can still hear the engine over wind noise pretty good. Much better than my compact digital camera.

That black dot on the sun is just plain creepy.

~O~

My $150? Drift X170 does that also.
But for $15 shipped HD DVR, I can't complain. LOL

gee skirri i think that the best ride vid ive ever seen ... seems to be perfect blend of sounds ... gives me hope ... my cheap cam has mic on back too thanks for the input here

The DVR must have sophisticated noise canceling software onboard.

Nahh, I guess it's just the fact that pathetic pinhole mic facing rearwards. LOL

I also liked your attempt at modesty at the end where you were trying to shield our eyes from looking at your crotch with your hand. :smilie_happy:

In all seriousness great video from your $15 investment :good:

Thanks! :hihihi:

The only gripe about this Chinese device is that it splits up AVI files into 10 minutes chunks. So you need a video editing software if you want to combine them into a single playback.

Now I wonder how my Chinese GoPro copy will behave.. blacked out sun or not..

I still need to figure out the best settings for upload and quality on the GoPro white. I do post a lot of dash cam footage from my iPhone that ends up blurry due to auto focus function and not enough time spent cleaning the windscreen

Editing and upload quality is what I'm working on now too.
Thank goodness Randy has already learned a lot and helping me and there are lots of very good tutorials on YouTube.

Which software do you use?
I have Pinnacle Studio 15 recommended by ScdMax. It has lots of features but very very slow for some reason.
Slow to launch, slow to read avi files, slow to generate avi (or wmv) files.
I think I have an okay PC (HP Pavilion E-560Z with AMD Phenom 2.7GHz - 6 core, 8GB RAM) running 64bit Win7.

Windows Live Movie Maker is quicker but crashes in the middle editing.

I know what you're saying about windows movie maker, I don't think all the times I've tried has it ever finished rendering a video. Gave up on it years ago.

I have always used Sony Vegas but I'm exploring the gopro software now.
It's a free download from their site, I think it will import others video files not sure.

First try with external mic. The mic is stuffed in behind the helmet cheek pad..

The original footage (4K) was very much higher quality before I imported it to Sony Vegas then rendered it as 1080.

Looks and sounds good Dan. :good: Also good to see that they have made LH turns on Red legal in Ca now :smilie_happy:

Good mixture of engine and wind noise.
Good mic placement for narration also.
Will work @ 80 MPH on freeway if helmet wind shield is closed?

I am not sure about camera position though. I guess you put it on top of your helmet and that's the place I see people mounting GoPro type camera.
Personally I think it's too high. I prefer eye level placement just like what you see while you are riding. Does GoPro come with a mount for this?

This is my Kodak Zi8 with external mic placed on my back. No wind noise but that's not a realistic riding movie, I guess.
And obviously Zi8 doesn't have wide enough viewing angle.

Oh and for this I tied down hand-held Kodak to my chest with a belt of some sort.
It's too low.
