well i just hooked up my new HD blinkers on the front cause it came with lil baby blinkers.I got every thing hooked up then i turned on the blinker it wont blink the other one just goes dim. any tips?? :Awe:

fun isnt it ... im sure you will get it ... every time i do something to the lights it like you never done it before .....check everything again and go for round 2 or 3 or 5 or where ever your at :smilie_happy:

everything works they just wont blink and i tested the blinker thing and it's ok i will get back to it in a few days i guess i can just turn the blinker off n on when i turn!!

Yup...with them not flashing, and one going dim, sounds like a bad ground. Time for a double-check of the mountings, and wiring.... :Awe: :builder:

OK i will check the ground an hopfully thats what the problem is!! thanx guys!!! :good:

Just like the fuel gauge. Part voltage results in part fuel gauge. Blinkers work on a buildup of voltage to flip on and off and without full voltage the light may come on but not enough to trip blink.

Are the new blinkers 2 wire or 3 wire blinkers? If they are two wire, did you make sure to connect them to the blinker wire and not the running light wire?

Make sure the ground wire from both lights is hooked to ground. With running lights its just like a tail light bulb bit with out the ground the voltage feeds back through filaments and the bulbs will light (however not bright as they should be) and when the power is applied it looses the path it had to make them light. I should stop before I confuse my self... :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

3 wires makes them dual element bulbs, like the brake light(hi/lo beam). One wire is the ground, the others are for the running light, and turn sig elements of the bulb. Without a proper ground, the bulb elements will light up due to the feedback thru the elements. In order for the flasher to work, there has to be enough of a current/amp draw to "trip" the flasher contact. With the bulbs wired incorrectly, or with no ground path, there just won't be enough current draw.
hth

and are you using bulbs that came with the lights or did you buy some to equal the specs of the flasher unit. First time I lost a turn bulb on my Harley I had to replace all 4 to make it work, she just was not happy with 3 US and 1 Japan bulb :head bang:

I know for a fACT there hooked up right it's just the lights. i hooked the lil baby blinkers up an they work fine then i hook these up an they dont wanna blink im thinkin if i can keep these hooked up for running lights since there holdin my headlight on. then put the baby blinkers on for that purpose, blinkin, frickin turnin into a genuis haha just kiddin but this site is so helpful !! :salute: :thanks:

oh and yea to the post i just got these blinkers at a garage sale for 7 bucks so i have kno idea what i got!!

are they led lights ???? if they are they wont blink till you get the right flasher for them ....thats proably why they were selling them at the yard sale.....ive naver had any led lights but thats what ive read in other posts ......

If they are LED
I changed mine over and put a variable load flasher in and when I had all LED lights they would blink but slowly and my turn signal cancelling system didn't work. I finally put the regular bulbs back in the front to increase the load and every thing worked fine. I guess the variable flashers still require more load than the LEDS have...
You may have to replace the flasher with a variable load version.
