Received my ignition system in the mail today. Instructions for the gl1100 are very sparse. I figured out where the coil pak went. Under the false tank where the old coils were located.

2 spacers are included but I have no idea where they are to end up. A silver coller is included no instructions where it goes. I thought the timing light thingy went under the cap on the left side.

Not sure where it is to end up.

I may have bitten off more than I can complete.

Warranty states a bil of sale with date is needed--I did not get a receipt.

I know this is a new company and they are working the kinks out. I just wanted you to know what to expect if you try this.

Hopefully this will get installed on my bike as it should be a great thing for these old wings.

I am going to wait for Dan to post what he takes off and how to install this thing before I try it. Thanks in advance Dan for a tutortial on what to take off and install.

Yes I did get mine.
It looks like these are the generic instructions for the powerarc module without any 1100 specific instructions.

Since I believe strongly in this system I'm going to do an installation video of the module in the stock 1100 ignition housing on an engine I have in the garage out of bike. This will help me familiarize myself and everyone else with clear views of what involved on this part of the install.
Later I'll do video install in the runner.

I'm in close contact with Paul so we can make sure these videos are accurate.

YouTube works well zman and it is really easy to update and no need to carry DVD stock

Wes,

I feel bad you are worried about the above items. As you and i discussed previously, we are working on instructions for this installation and i will have them on our website shortly.
I didnt send you a final receipt because i have to add those extra parts you purchased from my friend onto your total. You don't need a receipt from me anyway since i know when you bought it and which serial number you have. This is more for a person who purchases a kit from one of my dealers.

As for the instructions:
You told me that you were going to wait to install your kit until after Dan did the first one, since I have no photos showing the rear wheel or swingarm removal. Because of that conversation i only included the wiring instructions. We are going to use pictures provided by Dan showing swingarm removal (if needed).
If you want to start installing, a phone call to me would have solved that issue. I will gladly send you instructions showing everything except the swingarm part of it.

As i said before, we are creating an installation manual just like we did for the GL1000 that will be posted on our website. You and Dan are the first ones with a kit. I apologize for the misunderstanding. I never intended to make you nervous about the installation!

Right now i have pictures of the ignition installation, and i am emailing them to you with a description of how to install it.
You can call me with ANY questions you have. My cell is 920 810-0946 and i dont mind helping in any way possible.

I know I have your support. I know it will get on my bike. I just wanted others who may be considering this of what they might expect if they should go ahead and do this conversion at this time.

Yes I am a little nervous about this but what new adventure is not without it's excitement!!!

I know you are working to get the kinks out for this process. I am very happy to be at the forfront of this type of conversion.
And I hope many more will follow. I just wanted to let others know that this is not a plug and play--yet.

Forgive me, but I've been out of this loop for a little while. What GL1100 ignition are you talking about, please? Mine is proving himself to be quite the PITA, and I recently bought the Delphi coil pack for the '97 Dodge Neon per Dave0430's tutorial on the Saunders site to see if I can overcome the "degrading spark" condition. Thanks, Kevin

bobo good to see ya on the forum ...the c5 is the first optical reader ignition for oldwings and the only after market iggy for 1100 .... I have one of the c5 1000 iggys on my hooch build bike....this is the best aftermarket produt ever made for oldwings by a huge margin ....my bike has to be one of the best running wings on the planet ....the combination of 1000 early cams....1100 heads ...86 1200 short block ....single carb hoolley weber....c5 iggy...1000 framed bike has turned this into a torque monster from just off idle ....yesterday hooch and Harley played a little ....hooch out did the Harley in its home turf low end torque with ease ...now im really impressed with iggy it is spot on ...it is multi spark ........hooch is as powerful as any sane person could want ...im thinkin on a stock 1100 this iggy will bring the oldwing into new bike territory .... if 1100 carbs are good ... motor has good push in cylinders ..the c5 makes it as good as any powerplant out there today brand new ...finally an ignition as good as the motors are something Honda never came close to in oldwings ....

Thanks for the information, Joe! I'll be paying more attention to this now. I got a Delphi coil pack for my GL1100 that I'm about to install to get rid of the "degrading spark" problem. If that doesn't get it done, I'll definitely look to be a beta tester for the c5 or just an early customer. Any idea what the price point is?

Bobo,

If you have further questions about the technology, please do a search on this forum for related articles, and we have our installation guides here as well.

Another site we use purely for information is www.c5performance.info

I am working on the GL1100 installation guide right now, and it should be completed shortly. Dan is going to help us complete the manual when he does an installation on his bike.

The 1100 kit is $449. https://www.c5ignitions.com/motorcycle-ignitions.html

We have this noted on our website but i get asked often what is included in our kit.

All kits come with the appropriate ignition module, programmed for your vehicle, and sized to fit the engine, or sometimes the adapter that is required.
We include a multiple sparking ignition coil that fits your vehicle (Goldwing 1000 and 1100 both use a QT coil) and coil mounts or adapters unless otherwise noted on our website.
Kits come with new sparkplug leads which may need to be shortened to your preference. I recommend using NEW resistor sparkplug caps (NGK style).

On GL1000's you get a new aluminum housing and cap that works with our ignition. On the GL1100 you get a small aluminum spacer that replaces the stock advancer bearing, then our ignition mounts over the top. The GL1100 uses the stock Honda housing. No other parts are needed...its a very simple installation. You DO NOT use the stock GL1100 advancer. Click the thumbnail to view larger photo.

BoBo

I saw this at joe's and decided right there that I want one on my bike. My coils had in the past given me fits. With things getting harder to find-and getting the right part--Well this is going to fix this for me. I am not mechanically (electrically) inclined but this is going to happen on my bike one way ir the other.

:good: On mine too.

I took a bunch of pictures as I removed the stock pickups and housing.
I got as far as a test fit into the spare '83 engine.

I'll be making a full post with all the pictures of install explaining what is and where it goes along with everything that needs to be done step by step.
