ok, so for a little while now, I have been smelling a sickly sweet smell coming from Bear. I am pretty certain it is radiator coolant, it has a sweet smell, and my over flow bucket has gone down a good deal. today it kind of reminded me of really powerful raw bread dough. Now, I have taken the seats and the false tank off, looked over the hoses and I could not find anything. It is not a constant smell, just every once and a while while I am riding. all the hoses looked to be connected, and I could not find any leaks, but then again, if it is evaporating I may not know where it would come from. Any ideas?

Check the radiator fins - front and back - for any sign of wetness. Also, look under the front of the engine - there is a weep hole under the water pump. Another cause (hopefully not!) would be a bad head gasket. When antifreeze is vaporized in the combustion chamber, it makes a very sweet smell, usually with white smoke. If there are no signs of an external leak, and the oil is clean and at a constant level, the head gaskets are probably the problem.

What is the outside air temp when you first start it up? The o rings on the cross over tubes shrink whenb it is cold and then you get a leak. When the motor warms up, the o rings expand and the leak goes away. Seeing that you are in ID, that might be contributing.

The antifreeze faporizes on top of the motor from the motor heat and you might see steam and also smell the sweet smell.

Though you might have a leak I thought it worth mentioning that on my van I replaced the water pump and in the process had to dump the coolant, a lot got into the deep recesses of the engine top and lower part.
I rinsed well everywhere I could get to but I still smell hot coolant sometimes when walking past the hood.

Give the entire engine a wash down. Never know maybe some traces of antifreeze on the motor block is what your smelling.

Alright, Bear finally showed me where he was hurting. just going to be the seals where the pipes run behind the spark plugs into the engine, both sides need to be replaced. Now just to find out how to take that apart.

i barely loosen all four out side water port head pieces...just enoiygh to act like jigs loose enough to break loose ... and have a small like plastic hammer i use ... to tap around to break it loose.. never hit hit it hard first LOL ....once those are loose things just come apart ... id put oring in a bit of atf ...
