My GL1100 was a Interstate when i bought it, full dresser, with 4 carbs.

It is Single carb, maybe Single seat, for a Single seated ride.

A GL11-S

But I have had it naked for a while now, and already have my GL1200 which is naked.

When i bough this bike I wanted a Convertible bike, that is more Camellian like,

I wanted to be able to do a quick change, on a whim.

from semi naked to more of a full dresser.

I will provide some pictures, keep in mind that i have parts just sitting on top or next to, nothing is mounted yet.

Your thoughts as to which is best?

Version#1

I have the stock fairing.

But!

I want to be able to quickly change from full shield to naked, and back and fourth between Naked and full windshield

I like to be able to see the whole road, But have wind protection when i want it or go naked when the mood hits me.

With this windshield, i can take off, the windshield, in 15 seconds, or put it back on, just as fast.

They do make detach-able Clear lowers for my GL11-S

This picture also has the two up stock seat.

I have the side covers, they are not on, imagine them on.

Yea i have a lot of radio controlled planes, in the back ground, i have too many hobbies.

Version #2

This version is to be a true Single,

Single Seat, Single Carb. Conversion.

I wanted a Short overall look,

The trunk in that location, i the rider, can take advantage of the back rest.

I have enough 2 up bikes, for the wife to come along with me.

This is a Single bike.

The trunk can be removed, as there is a rack under it.

The saddle bags also removable

I have a pair of the Roadking long mufflers that will go on to this bike soon.

The saddle bags will be mounted in a LOWER position, the exhaust is too high for me to get a good picture, so imagine the saddle bags Lower, by a few inches.

Thanks Joe,

I want to get my shop under control, it is a Nightmare to work like this.

I want to build some shelving for massive storage, and Work benches.

Next I would Love to Paint it.

I have a really nice paint gun, and a dehumidifier/filter for my compressor & plasma gun.

I have the paint, it is a three layer Candy Yellow.

There ain't enough weeks in a day.

Now look at version #2

Imagine it with the Trunk removed, for a short, and Low Look.

I like that i can change it to a few different looks.

My personal opinion is that's an awefully sexy bike with that color running naked.
The bags and trunk on ruin it for me.

I'm a big fan of the black leather bags Omega Man had on his 1100. I think that would do it for me.
Probably no trunk.

Here it is with the Trunk removed for that Lower Look.

There will be a small rack behind the Single seat, that the trunk can be mounted to.

But the saddle bags will lower than they are in the picture, as they are just leaning,

and my exhaust needs to be lowered and flat, parallel with the floor, now my exhaust is up swept in the rear.

What you are seeing in the pictures, is only half of the shop

The far wall, the whole Wall is two GIANT hinged doors, the Hinges on the doors, are enormous.

3200sq feet in all, I am in love with my shop, but I need to get shelving built so i can go up.

shop has a 25' celing, I can really take advantage of that height for storage, and Benches.

Shop has Water spigots inside, 220v and 110v outlets everywhere, good lighting, and completely insulated

There was a heater in the shop, but previous owner took it with him.

But the chimney and hood is still there.

I built a Four very Heavy duty Pedistols,
pedistol is,
6" dia 1/4" wall tube, that is welded to 1/2" thick plate steel 24" wide x 36" long plate, just stand on the plate, while you work, i can move them around if i need to.

1 for for my Grinder/ polisher,

1 for a BIG Vise

1 for a Heavy duty Manual Tube Bender w/20-ton cylinder

1 for Wire wheel/Grinder

well for long trips I like like it a lot to have options ...your building makes mine not much more than a cave

I like to think of the convertible option bike as a Short or Long trip bike.

a short ride, 15 seconds later, windshield is off, turn a key remove trunk.

two saddle bags are all that remain.

I would like to figure out how to very quickly remove the saddle bags and mounts with some sort of quick disconnect.

I'll have to think that over.

My goal, is less than 5 minutes, from full dress to full naked.

the good ol' days

It must be mentioned that with the exception of the retired engineer who filled the post of managing director, we were all, from P. C. Vincent down, active motorcyclists, riding every day in all weathers to work, or in long distance trials, while racing men like George Brown and C. J. Williams were employed as development testers. The front and rear duo-brakes which we had pioneered in 1934 had been so satisfactory that they could be continued unchanged, except for widening the rear hub to move the chain out far enough to clear a 4 in. tyre. In these hubs, all four drums, the eight shoes, plus the minor bits and the taper roller bearings were identical, thus simplifying the spares situation, while the drums could be detached without disturbing the spokes; in fact, on either wheel you could use two drums, one drum or none at all, according to requirements. The rear wheel, which was reversible, could carry a second sprocket for easy changes of ratio - very handy in long-distance trials combining miles of main road, followed by mountain sections. With a tommy-bar pull-out axle and quickly-detachable torque arms, the wheel could be removed without using any spanners in under a minute, the operation being aided by a rear stand and a hinged section on the mudguard.

The brake & gear shift were adjustable for reach to suit individual feet

I like the look, have been debating the hard bag thing. but I like the leather bags I have (stiff leather). I did away with the large clunky tail light assembly and went smaller. I had a roadglide windshield on at one time, I used handlebar mounts on top and made crude mounts for the lower portion. Anyway, looks like you have a lot of options/ideas and i think it will all come together and look great.

Small tail light, no backrest, no wind screen. Gangster look...LOL
running lights/signals
single seat/backrest

 cheers

Hey Wildwing,

That is a nice looking Bike.

I like the single seat,

Very cool

The Vincent is my Ultimate motorcycle, I would love to have one to play around with.

So far ahead of there time, and such quality.

There was a cable special on the Vincent bike, a few years ago, it was very interesting
