She lives!!!

The carbs passed the bench test but they still need to be synched. Since they were full of gas, she started right up after I turned the "run" switch on. I cranked it a bit to get the oil pressure up.

Still some work to do, but I'm thrilled with how she sounds! :yahoo:

Great work, Steve! She is sounding nice and healthy! I'll say she is certainly a lot cleaner, than her cousin the Rat's Nest! I could eat my eggs straight off that motor, but she probably runs too cool for that!

Thank you for all your hard work!

Yippee only 2months to go until I will be able to congratulate you in person on a fantastic job. Once again you are as fastidious as ever in your rebirthing of these Oldwings Steve!! You also have the ability to make it all seem so effortless to bring such quality to a build. The Rats Nest is the ugly stepsister but as you guys are aware with my driveway she is my kind bike and more suited to the Aussie bush. :good:

Steve83 » Sun Jun 02, 2013 3:12 am[/url]":10abqd8q]I built a small parts cleaner out of a soda bottle, a wire coat hanger, a VCR servo motor and some duct tape. I sprayed in a can of brake cleaner, put all the small bits and pieces in, hooked up a 12 volt supply and let it run for several hours. It cleaned things up very nicely!

That's the KEWLEST thing I ever seen!!!! What an imagination to come up with something like that, Steve! Kudos!!!! :clapping:

This has certainly been an incredible journey for this bike. Thanks for taking the pics/videos for all to see. Gives some us hope!! :thanks:

This is one of the most attractive machines I've ever seen! I really like the color - Wineberry Red, I believe. It still needs some work, and I'm hoping to ride her around the neighborhood a bit this weekend. Mr. Wade, you have one fine Goldwing here - I hope she serves you well! I'll be sad to see her go...

I think I have an engine fetish... :lust:

Stator output - 14.6 volts@1500 RPM. Lights, turn signals, horns - fully functional. Woo-hoo!

31 years old...unbelievable! :eek:k:

It really does look like a new bike and it seems like we have had good luck again.
I suppose my real luck occurred when I joined this site and Steve agreed to make space in his garage so that he could help me resurrect my impulse buy of the Rats Nest. Through his dedication he has made our ride in August a reality.
I can't say enough good things about him. He has become a true mate and we haven't even met face to face yet.
Many thanks as always Steve and I can't wait to congratulate you in person on all your excellent work!

If instead of that little motor you would have attached some sort of belt & pedals I would have sworn you got that idea from gilligans island :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Well, she's all back together, and just about ready for the Wade's August Ride (W.A.R.!!!) A little more carb adjusting and some rear brake finishing - she's pretty much done! Tony, I'm very envious of your Dad - this is one sweet ride! Of course, I fell in love with the Rat's Nest as well... Gotta love these OldWings!!!

Someday, my '83 will be together and I can make more videos.

I hope to see some video of you gaining some ride time soon Steve. Can't just fix them, you need to ride them as well. If you prefer the Rats Nest for practice let Kim know and he can swap bikes with you. Sounds sweet as always. :good: :good:
