it's obvious now that my engine guards and frame are hot when the key is on, so I guess I have to ground back to the battery now? fricking incredible

I believe I'd be looking for a pinched or direct shorted wire somewhere if my frame and engine guards are "hot". Remove all the fuses in the fuse box, replace the 30 amp main fuse, turn the key on, then add one fuse at a time back to fuse box until it blows the 30 amp, then you'll know which system is shorted out and know where to begin to trace wires.

it's only when I try to run the radiator fan auxiliary switch. I'm going to unplug all that stuff and let it run like it ran before - when the sending unit fails will he the time to hook the switch up again.

timing belts look good when the engine is hot so I'm just closing everything up now

Sounds like the switch is wired to power. It should not be. Power goes to the fan always then the fan is grounded by the sending unit. The aux switch should also just ground the fan.

+1 aux fan switch is wired incorrectly and the current power isn't coming from the fuse box to blow the main fuse :( :Doh2:

well got it all put back together and started getting wet on the way home. I at least have it in my garage, it's comin from way up high, radiator cap or that 5/16" hose coming off of it.

I pulled off at a Walmart and had my gf bring my tools to where I could take false tank and fill he radiator again and made it eventually.

4 nights and 1 day about 75% of that time looking for the tool needs to use next, I'm ready to have my hands on the handlebars rather than a wrench. poopy.

it might freeze within the next 30 days out this way, it's hard telling what's next in Kansas.
