+1 on the detector, full Halon automatic system would be nice unless you were in the laundry at the time...

Funny thing Joel, I live in a townhome development that has community rules. One of the rules is, no hanging clothes or clotheslines! :Awe:

I couldn't - no, I would refuse to live in such a "community". Some don't permit motorcycles - wouldn't live there, either. Glad however, that there are places for those that enjoy such structure, so they don't live near me!

until a feller told me I had the wrong type of plug on it(it's 220v)

So......were you running it on 120v?

No..it's always been connected to 220. The feller told me the plug I had was not an appliance plug, or something to that effect. It's been so long I can't remember, but he told me what I needed. I got the plug, and changed the receptacle, and all has been fine since......and it'll prolly melt next time Mama uses it.... :smilie_happy:
Smoke defector is a good idea, too, except for me, the washer/dryer is in the garage....I'd never hear the dern thing if it was goin off.

as info, I have our smoke detecters wired parallel, If the garage sounds off the house will too. Costs a little more to wire, But we sleep good at nite!! I want to wire the alarm siren to the garage, That way if we are at the pool, we will hear it. Sure glad yours was not any worse then it was, Thanks, Charlie in NC

Thanks Charlie!

Here in NJ, all of our smoke and CO detectors are wired direct to each other plus they must have battery back up in them. We are also required to have a detector in each bedroom, top of each stairway or hallway, entrance to garage and laundry room. When one detector goes off, the whole house sounds like there is an impending nuclear attack!
