I stripped/primed and painted my gl1100 with dupicolor engine paint and then clear. The motor is in the frame now ready for the rest of the parts (slow process).
I read on the ngw forum something about clear coat not being a good idea - that gas was going to destroy the finish.
I thought it was duplicolor engine paint/clear and therefore resistant to gas/oil.
I don't want any gas getting on my paint!! And especially don't want it ruining it or having to do it over.
I have had gas all over the top of a gl motor in an attempt to get some carbs working after a rebuild. I put an o-ring in the wrong place so my bad.
I'm paranoid!
I am motivated to work on this thing but it is like 2 steps forward, 2 steps back, no money to buy stuff/money to buy stuff/ no time/ time/break something/fix/ repeat.
I am inclined to keep gong and not worry about. On the other hand I will be #$sed if gas gets on it.
In hindsight I guess I should have used a different paint - ?
Any advice?
