I'll jump in with the same thing, but will add that you could connect a jumper wire from the headlight socket ground terminal directly to a solid chassis ground.
If the light gets brighter, you know you have a poor ground.
If you jumper a POSITIVE lead from your battery to the headlight and that fixes it, you know its a feed issue. (kinda just cutting your search in half is all i am sayin...but it could still be the light switch or an actual wire).

Almost always easier fixing an oil leak because you can see it, right?
