We shut it off. We now pick up local channels with the digital box. The only times we see commercials anymore. We also stream netflix for 8 bucks a month. (as long as I can keep internet on) We have the wireless disc player that has apps for other stuff, some is pay per view movies and some is free (like crackle - youtube - aol tv), etc. The boys can watch this on their game consoles too. We're cool with it. I had to turn off the satalite for $80 a month, but my receiver is still plugged in so I get the monthly free preview channels. Sometimes this will include the history channel, or the military channel, or FX, HBO, etc. And of course, about a hundred shopping network channels.
