at low speeds,, ? 20,, I hear an intermittent sound, sounds just like a squeegey on a floor,, I stopped and checked the disk for heat,, front right disk had a small amount of heat, left none. I have one of those fluid sucker's, the top reservoir looks pretty low anyway,, could pull some old out and replace,, i'll have to look and see if there's a reservoir for the back brakes,, I know the systems are tied together. It has new lookn pads ,, front and rear. I've heard noise before,, almost thought it was that big piece of rubber insided the fender that about rubs the wheel. it's not a constant noise

doubt anything is sticking in the calipers,, I put a wrench on each bleeder and calipers were loose,, could the noise be sumthing to do with the wheel kit? the lil black rubber dust covers? I know I didn't get that stuff right when I had the forks off. dot 3?

Under the right side cover in front of saddlebags area is a round container.. that isd the rear matter cylinder reservoir... if the front right and rear are the linked brakes that is where the fluid goes.. also you may need to lube the Speedo and tach cables.. they also can be noisy..

thanx, I will take a look at that, I found the reservoir and replaced fluids front and back, don't think it's a warped rotor,, not getting that kind of noise,, noticed the noise once while applying the back break while turning,(don't use much). more like a new bike 'squeaky kinda noise' idk,, don't think I will worry about it too much..

yes, there is a rub mark in the middle of the left front sidewall,, it's that squeegee lookin thing that has sumthn to do with the fender/fender mount. anyways I hope that's what it is,, but sumthing is definatly rubbing there

It is possible to install the front axle incorrectly and yet have it all fit together like it's all good, except you end up with strange noises, the best way to check you've got it right is to slide a feeler guage between the inside of the left rotor and the left caliper bracket, you should have a gap of between .007" & .012" if its all together correctly.

could slide a .035 hack saw blade in between the rotor and the caliper braket easily,, both left and right,, I remember when I went to take the axle loose one time,, (I might have had that 4 bolt fork holder out) but I didn't know what I was doing and backed the axle nut loose thinking that was the way to take it apart,, and spread the fork, so that might not be helping. The wheel is obviously too far to the left. Should I just take the front axle apart,, see if maybe something is put together wrong? guess im gonna have to

Joe's right! You have something in the axle messed up, it could be something as mundane as the speedo drive, or it's component parts not in the right order, but it has to be something like that...........

1st pic is of the left side where that squeegey lookin piece of rubber inside the fender is rubbing the tire... there's a gap on the other side, couldn't get a pic of it. 2 more pics on the next page

First time I have something like this..... all Hondas I have worked on over the years I have never had something like this mounted... and definitely not on my 81 and 85 interstates I have now... have you taken the time to terra abs remove the wheel and see if it is bolted or jammed up in there?

owners manual talks about those tolerances also.. no mention of the nut on the end of the axle, you put a flat wrench on the other side,, and you have an expand-contract reaction. I put the right fork all the way on ,,, and tighten that end nut.. and it doesn't come anywhere near the .020 tolerances they are talkn about,,.. I would say more like .120 In other words- I have the axle buried against the right fork tube and the caliper housing is still too far away from the rotor. ? there's nothing I can do w/the axle.

how can you go buy - the distance to the rotor,, what if the rotor's been turned? I don't know I got it back together. Am I wrong, or does the book talk about the sequence/ and tightening of the axle caps,, and how to adj. it to the rotor-caliper bracket tolerance. I don't understand that at all,, no,, don't see that happenin
