Has anyone done a fuel pump conversion on 1000s or 1100? Over to an electric pump?
Im considering an option on one of my 1100s. I want to leave that area tidy as well so I'd be considering having the end of the camshaft machined off and then making a stainless or aluminiam cover plate to finish off.
The tacho drive is an easy fix. An electronic tacho... Pull the guts from that and convert over to the Honda gauges.
If anyone has done such a conversion could you post up some pics please and some info...I would love to see it. 😊😊🤟

I converted to an electric fuel pump on my ‘78 GL 1000 a number of years back. I went down that path essentially due to the difficult starting after the machine had been idle for a couple of weeks or so. With a bunch of bikes in a stable, care and feeding and exercising doesn’t always happen quick enough to keep the bowls full of fuel. I really hated the hard starting aspect.

I chose to use a GL1200 fuel pump. Bolts right up to the 1000 engine. I didn’t want to pop off the end of my camshaft and wanted to keep the factory gauges, so needed the tachometer drive.. I didn’t like the notion of using a block off plate on the mechanical fuel pump housing and it was ugly as hell to boot - so I modified a sacrificial one to allow me to keep the tach. I powered the pump through a relay triggered by the accessory circuit under the left shelter.

Worked out pretty well.
