I love the caveman tech tools. I don't mind wrecking my own stuff as long as I can learn along the way. I found a guy local to do it for $40. I could use a big boot for practice.

Id pay the $40 and be done, :whistling: a guy using a lathe is a better option, :good: in my opinion.

Pivot bolts for 1200 swing arm, need machining to fit his 1000 frame, :headscratch: is my understanding.

I thought I still had 1000 pivots, but I don't...

Anyway, here are some:

The threads from a 1100/1200 pivot will not fit the 1000 frame and the tips of the 1000 pivot won't fit the 1200 SA bearings... you need to make them fit.

Exactly. What the pics don't show, because they're sized differently, is that the 1200 pin portion's diameter ( the part the bearing sits on) is smaller on the 1000 than the 1200/1100's. The threaded portion is larger on the 1200/1100's than the 1000. To me it seems easiest to trim them down.

I called the guy and brought him the pins for $40, but he goofed on one and made it too small. He said he'd make it right and charge me nothing. I paid him $40 anyways. Seemed like a nice guy and was retired bringing an old Norton back to life.

Sandy from Barrie, Ont has sent me one.

Next time I get a wild hair up my butt to do this, I'm finding a 1200 bike to do it on.

Why would you want to put a 1000 swingarm in a 1200 frame?
