Personally I like the little backfiring on decel. As long as it's out the exhaust I think it causes no harm at all.
More like a pollution scam than a issue.":17jj1bid]
Lot like V W's problem with the pollution issues, :headscratch: it gets harder & harder to squeeze by regulations as time goes by. :hihihi:
No. :hi:":fue4we0a]
Have to leave a good air cut off diaphram in to keep trap door shut, don't you? :headscratch:

Hi bronko37,
Your posts make me want to bypass the whole air custom system! You said….
"I made plugs for my 1200 for the secondary air supply system. Completely eliminated it. Also made block off plate for the afterburn valve and eliminated it too. No more back fire and the bike runs great."
Is that all I have to do is (1) plug the four chrome pipes that lead from the plenum chamber to the engine block and (2) make a block-off plate for the anti afterburn valve and eliminate it?
Do I leave the reed valves in place? Does the purge control valve stay too? (Mine 1200 is a California model) There's also a slow air cut-off valve that I could either eliminate or just leave in place. What to do
It may have been a while since you did this work, so i'll understand if you don't remember all the details. I just don't want to go into this totally blind, only to find that I screwed something up or still have the backfiring problem.
Thx
Paul
