Prayers for Louis for healing and for support for his family! Prayers for you Paul for you to be sustained as your friend is in critical condition.

This morning around 12:20 am my friend Louis Hallett passed away and is now hopefully with his parents God in heaven.

Louis and his wife ILA (I used caps so you can read it better) were GWRRA chapter directors for YEARS. Louis repaired and restored hundreds of Goldwings at his shop, which specialized in Wings, installed side cars, and also built three Cushman scooters with Goldwing power. The blue one shown has our prototype crank driven ignition and has six Valkyrie carbs on it.

I am at a loss for inspirational words. Do we move or change this post so his friends on here can find out?

So sorry to hear this. Please send my condolences to the family. Such a shame. Another GOOD one gone. He'll be missed around here, for sure.

I am no good with words at times like this, so I just let this say it for me:

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

I talked to Louie just the one time for about an hour.
In that short time I could tell I was talking to a true mechanic with many many years of devotion and respect for these Goldwings.

We have lost one of the true great minds and craftsman to history.

Very sad day.

so sorry to read this , thats some BAD stuff there , my wife almost died in 2007 , from a Gastric Bypass that had a Leak ... which in some ways is the same thing . . so , so , sorry .... the Lord in Heaven will take care of him .

His wife Ila asked that I forward her thanks for kind words and prayers.
As he slowly faded away, she was forced to make the decision to let him go or keep him on machines. Knowing Louie she did the right thing and said goodbye for now.

Louis worked on Goldwings right up until last Friday when his stomach pain became unbearable. Today we planned on showing him the new Gen 4 kit and installing on a GL1100.
Although it is tragic he is gone, I know that he was excited to be a major part of the new C5 kit. His health was failing but the amount of knowledge about Wings was second to none.

We talked virtually 7 days a week for the past two years. He is as much a part of our success as I am.

Without his garage full of Wing engines, and the use of his custom Truckster, there would never be a Goldwing ignition. His wife Ila knows almost as much, and has been working on Goldwings beside him for 25+ years. She will help me finish the 1500 kit.

Your support would make Louie blush....he always joked that he was "just a dumb mechanic" because dyslexia made reading and typing a struggle.

In my opinion he was the most knowledgeable mechanic I have ever met.
