I know I'm preaching to the choir a little bit, but I just love this bike. They are so intuitive! Large, yes, but so manageable in so many ways. I've only ridden this bike three days and I already feel so comfortable on it. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing, but I feel like I'm really getting there!

I still think that bicycle riding has helped me a lot. The slow speed maneuvering and such are pretty much ingrained in me. The weight of the wing is substantially more, of course, but balance is balance. The other part of the equation is the design of the Wing and that's what sets this bike apart, in my mind. The lower center of gravity just makes it work.

I got to spend some time tonight cleaning it up a little. As clean as it was, they really didn't detail it that much in the shop. I'm going to take some brillo pads to the chrome as there are a few specks of surface rust here and there. Not too bad for 29 years, though. I took some Armor All to the seat and it cleaned up better than even I anticipated. Going over the seat that much, I can see that it's in really great shape for the original seat. In fact, I'm having a little bit of a hard time imagining 124000 miles of butt time on it, to tell the truth. I'd think it would be a little more worn. Bottom line; cosmetically, this bike will clean up really well.

The jury is still out on the bike mechanically. I mean, it runs really well, so I have no reason to think there are major problems. I think she's a keeper!

I'm glad you're begining to feel one with your bike & yes your correct it does have a great balance to it even with its weight. It's good that you're feeling comfortable with your bike. There's nothing wrong with it,just know your limits and of course those of the machine you're riding on.As to applying armor all to the seat I don't think it was a great idea(it could be me though :headscratch: )Been there done that long way time ago and I ended sliding all over a seat and you loose grip with the bike.If in doubt just sit on it while on its stand and see if you can slide yourself in it and think what a kinda hard stop or pull will do to you while riding. For me it's a big NO-No_On polishing seats :nea: .make sure you check that out before you ride or go around the block and feel the bike before you head to a longer haul

You know.... I thought about that briefly and then did it anyway. I will do as you suggest and make sure it's not too slickery. It does look real pretty, though!

Follow up on the Armor All thing; maybe my butt has extra gripping power, but I didn't notice any significant difference in the slipperiness of the seat.

Dang my bike looks extra nice this morning! :good:

Bicyclists: Can you see the two things that point to this bike having been owned by a bicyclist?

And finally, here is the clear coat damage on the trunk. This is the worst cosmetic damage on the bike.

I'm not seeing it

Good looking bike ya got there.

On the seat my guess is it's been replaced since judging by the clearcoat condition it's seen a lot of sun, the seat would have been toast long ago with that much sun.

Water bottle cage on the handlebar (not so unusual in itself) and the spring for a quick release skewer on the CB antenna.

I thought about the seat being replaced at some point. That could be. The clearcoat condition is only on the trunk, nowhere else on the bike.

Thanks!

It could be the pic. but it seems like where the clearcoat peeled off on the trunk, the paint is shinning :headscratch: might be the (armor all) doing that shinning or is it an under coat :headscratch: And yes your bike is looking better than the previous pics. :good:

Bike looks great.
As for the clear, you may be able to wet sand it and re clear coat it,but if the armor-all got anywhere close it may end up being a disaster.Armor-All is a body mans worst enemy.

A great alternative is WIZARDS Tire and vinyle car.Body shop safe like all WIZARDS products.
Really makes the trim, tires seat and such look brand new with a rich dark look with out the greasy slippery armor all side affects.
