:swoon: Yes I did say from Utah, where one religion is dominant and all the manholes are made directly in the drivers tire. :head bang:

Thanks so much to all that have maintaned and created this website long enough for me to discover it. Great info on this site.

Just bought a 1981 GL1100I :clapping: only 69K on the wear and almost thirty years on the TEAR! :heat:

Doesn't look like a winner but I can gaurantee after practicing 99% of the information listed within: this thing will be a beast! :music:

Just got it home and as soon as I drop it off the trailer, the lovely Utah weather turns from sunny to instant clouds and rain. :fiddle:

Will post some pics tomorrow as it is now covered, no garage to mention so under the tarp it goes. :crying:

Seen a link to a portable garage and about wet myself when seeing the price. :help:

Guess I gotta get out the tools and get busy producing one like it so I can work in this great 4 season in a day weather. :builder:

Will post some before during and after pics to show the progress, gonna take about 2 months for it to be road worthy. :sensored:

K all early to bed is the first on the ride. :lazy:

Again thanks all for creating and maintaining this site for one more winger. :thank_you:

And...we definitely need pics!! :beg:

Welcome from North TEXAS.. as far as the work goes.. replace the belts.. they should have been done about 60K .. since you don't know certain aspects of the PO(s) loving care.. this is important.. some would say while you are down tere.. water pump replacement.. thermostat, and temp switch for the fan... need to remove radiator to do the belts ezily.. so get it all done.. great tutorial on here from roady with pics!! and the pics help me solve an issue when I set up my belts for timing.. also I would after doing belts adjust valves.. you need to turn over the motor by hand anyway.. good time to do this.. if your planning on carb over haul.. look at randakk's kit.. complete with items not included and hard to find.. randakks.com Just some starting points..

I forgot to mention, I was stationed in Ogden back in 1984-1986. Got to love that skiing. I once rode my old Suzuki when it was 10 degrees outside, down I-15 for a bit to get it from the impound yard to a friends garage. I just love those overzealous Roy police officers.

 Oh the memories! Had a stop or two with them. . .

As for the other posts yes indeed lots of chrome. Today I stripped the saddle bags and everything from the seat back. Gotta change the tires, de-rust the gas tank, doh! It is a project but it will be great here soon. I will get pics of this each day I progress.

Thanks all this is gonna be GREAT! :salute:

No sir, US Army Military Police Corps - Nuclear Security Specialist - Defense Depot Ogden.

We used to go to Hill AFB all the time to the NCO club, and played our sports up there...softball, basketball, flag football.

My last 4 1/2 in the AF i was stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ .. home of the 11 sig, Army Intelligence, and school.. we were working on building a communications system that would interface with a field radio and state of the art satellite systems... taking all the current (then in use and retired to the reserve and nat'l guard) equipment and running them through the system over tropo, microwave and other systems... TRITAC.. had a blast and saw the first gl1000 there... (1978 -1983)..
