Hey Guys, name is Mike.

Picked up a running '79 GL1000 a few months ago and have been slowing working at figuring out everything it needs to get into riding shape, and will be changing a few things along the way.

Hope to have her on the road soon.

Thanks for the welcome guys! :salute:

I haven't done too much yet but removed the Vetter fairing, silly chopper seat and sissy bar that was on it, saddle bag rack, crash bars, handlebars, taillights and rear fender, stock exhaust, passenger pegs. So far have changed the timing belts and oil. Found a set of Harley Fatboy stock slipons that I want to put on it. Bike also came with a two-up touring seat where the cover was completely falling off but the foam was in good shape so I've reshaped that into something lower and more sporty...

Lots more to do, she needs a new headlight, lower handlebars, tach cable, clutch cable, taillight w/license plate bracket, turn signals, seat covered, lithium battery, etc. I'm sure I'll find more.

She has good bones though and so far has never failed to start when I try every week or so.

Keeping hope alive...

So you named her Hope??????? :smilie_happy:

Ha! Funny. I actually named her "Could be a while" because of how I tend to work on projects, 2-4 hours at a time several weeks apart. "Hope" kinda fits too.

We have a restoration section where you can keep us all up to date, and a newer section where you can log everything you do to her as you do it, but others can't post there.
