The rectifier on my 82 Asp. seems to run hotter than I'm used to. The charging system is working fine, 13.5-14.5 vdc. Could it be because of the location of the rectifier, not getting much air, or is something else going on.

They do run hot, too hot to touch.

It's always a good idea to go through and clean connections, have you bypassed the 3 yellow wires connector?
I have heard resistance on those wires can make the regulator run hot.

btw, welcome to the forums hoppy.

Thanks for the info & the welcome. I have not bypassed the connector but I plan on doing that soon. I changed the reg/rect last winter because the PO installed an alarm system on the bike and all the wiring was scotch-locked to 5 of the reg wires which fried themselves soon after I removed the alarm. Yee-Haw, no charging system!!!!
