How do I lube a Tach

My Tachometer started squealing last night when I started the bike, it's cold out. How,what and where do I lubricate the tach, so that I don't lose it to failure.

I remove it from the triple, flip it upside-down and give it a few shots of penetrant/lube into the opening for the cable. Replace cable. Spin it a few times. Too much oil and you may get it on the glass.

I used spray lithium grease and a nozzle.
That was 5+ years ago, can't remember if I had to pull them loose to spray the bushing. Doesn't seem like I did.

That's what i use too...spray lithium.

Just wondering, are you sure it is the tach and not the cable, I had my tach cable go bad and it made a heck of a noise that sounded like it was coming from the tach.

I pulled the cable and it was really stiff, lubed it with Marvel Mystery Oil and a super fine coat of light weight GP Moly Grease. Cable spins much easier with fingers now, will see if it still makes noise after it freezes again.
