A week ago I was checking why a 2006 Ford Focus was overheating. I used my power probe to check the fan and it wouldn’t run in the direction/polarity that I believed was correct. I reversed the polarity and it seemed after a bit, it started running so I then went back to what I thought was the correct polarity and it wouldn’t run. While trying to decide if it was running backwards I placed my left/dumb hand close to the rotating fan and couldn’t decide if it was running backwards. Unfortunately I must of gotten too close to the fan and it bit me, here are some of the gory details.
The day after surgery
Five days after surgery (yesterday)

Thanks for all the best wishes. I had posted some tame pictures on FB as it is really quick and easy using FB checkin. Thought it was time to get it up on the forum as has been stated plenty of us “old” guys are starting to sport these type of injuries. My wife Ruth has been claiming ever since my first General Anesthetic I have some form of increased forgetfulness/ dementia? thus explaining my injury. I claimed that it is amazing that I have survived this long with everything intact. :hihihi:

Hey, Tony...you're not supposed to let your sh*t hit the fan!

Quick healing to you, my friend.
:smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

I Glad wrapped my fingers and packed up the Ute and drive myself to Hospital so that I didn’t have to leave my gear behind. After cleaning me up,xrays, etc I was advised that surgery would be the following morning (Thursday) so I elected to check myself out so that I could get my gear/car home and get cleaned up properly as I was in filthy overalls. Once home Ruth wouldn’t let me drink :salute: or drive even though I had driven myself to the hospital and home.
While trying travelling around for me on Saturday ( again I wasn’t allowed to drive my Ute) we stopped to fuel up her Diesel Outback which she said she would pump. Me refusing to be treated anymore like an invalid/incompetent would pump the Diesel. I then proceeded to fill her diesel tank with 43lts of 95 petrol which luckily the attendant drew to Ruth’s attention when she was paying.

Ruth looking fairly happy at our ride home with the Outback on the back
Using my boat tank hose I was able to siphon most of the fuel out and as the diesel is heavier I put 15lts into the tractor and once the petrol started coming through I put that in the tank of the BA ute.
Finally driving my BF ute and bragging to Ruth about my great parking spot underneath the hospital.

Ouch. The ole doc patched you up quite nicely. Take it from me, you're going to have a few challenges for a few weeks - doing things with one arm has a few disadvantages...even taking a leak can't be taken for granted.

   OWWWWWWIE!!!! That hertz just lookn at it! Heal quickly, my friend!

 Dangit, Tony... slow down a little bit, just long enough to let your brain catch up!!! :Doh2:

Hopefully it didn't get into the tendons, but I'm betting it got into the nerves, which will really suck...

FWIW... I'm missing a good chunk of my left foot, you got lucky, but mine was a bit unavoidable... I think you'll recover faster.

X-rays showed some fractures but I have been able to move my fingers the whole time. I really think that they should be all good apart from the missing side/tip of the index finger which is also the main area to be concerned about infection. Tuesday I will get the stitches out so I will have a better idea of restricted movement etc.

Well one less beer might have helped

Hope it all heals up quickly! My neighbor did the same thing in his truck, he was on a road trip and had to rely on some good samaritans to help drain 40 gallons of mix.

Thanks men! :thanks:
The worst part is I wasn’t going to do the job and go and have a few quiet drinks with my mate instead and leave it until the next day. I actually took a left instead of a right turn and look what happens. I also should of walked away from the job when the car needed to be jump started before I could work on it and it even though it had only recently been turned off (still hot ).
