This is a video I took to give you an idea of how my gl1200 sounds. I am new to this engine for the most part and thought I would let you all have a listen. Sometimes I feel the exhaust might be leaking because while sitting on the bike it seems louder than my last bikes. But it could be nothing. Give it a listen.

Mine has some ticking at the exhaust, I think similar to yours. I've obsessed over quieting it but decided it's got to be from sound going through the insides of the pipes causing it.

I agree too, idle a bit high.

Could be just me, I thought the left bank sounded slightly leaky and somewhat louder than the right.
It wasn't exceptionally loud, just noisier. Hard to say, Youtube video sound quality isn't always the best. These old things are known for rusty, pin holed, exhaust.

Yeah my idle speed at warm idle is running at about 1300 RPMs in neutral. Is there a simple fix for this? Pictures?
The adjustment for idle is adjusted on the right side on the 1100, near the fuel filter, should be the same on yours, flat head screwdriver, if you cant get it to idle smooth at around 1000 rpm you may need to synchronize the carburetors, you should do that anyways but a symptom of this is not being able to hold a smooth idle at 950-1000RPM`s.
A well synced carb system does wonders..well worth the cost(if you don't have the tool) and time.

Pictures always help but I think what Jeff suggested will be better

Is this the idle adjustment screw?

No, it's a screw on the bottom of the bell crank where your throttle cables attach rear center of the carb rack. You might have some tupperware covering it, but I've always seen them in the open.

Where the throttle cables hook up there is a round drum that the cables hook to, just underneath the round part there is the screw.
at the rear of the carb rack in front of the real fuel tank, cener part of the carb rack, you`ll need a long blade driver..

The idle adjustment screw is on the right side of the bike. Look a the back of the carb. Big bronze screw, cant miss it...

Adjust only 1/4 turn at a time and then blip the throttle, let the bike settle into the idle adjustment, repeat until you idle about 1000rpm +- 50rpm, or so...

If it just wont run smooth there, you prolly need a sync adjustment as stated above. Never a bad idea anyway...

Thanks goodness for pictures and forums. It makes one wonder how many GL`s have been Idle adjusted with the carb sync or air screws then they just give up cause they cant get it to idle and run right.
