I have two IBA Pre-Approved Rides Starting & ending in Michigan this year.

A Lake Huron SS1K https://members.triton.net/vandenbe/LKHURON1K.htm that starts & ends in Imlay City on Saturday June 27th , and

And the Yooper Madness II SS1K https://members.triton.net/vandenbe/2015YM.htm That starts in Houghton Lake on Saturday August 22nd and ends in St. Johns.

Please check out the links !!! Hope to see you there. We usually get 20-30 riders, all ages & all types of bikes. A few passengers, too. Both rides would be good rides for first time IBA Riders.

I will be on the lake huron ride with you jim

Fantastic, Will !! We need as many Wing's as possible. But I'm not sure Jim Mick will be with us this year. And Ted moved to Arizona. I thought this Forum might get a few more Wing Riders interested in getting their IBA number & IBA license plate backer.

Next year, I plan on riding my GL1100I on the MIO SS1K Ride, BTW. That will be a perfect ride for that old Wing.

I have some work to do on my 1200 wing but hope I can talk my niece into riding it on the MIO ss1k ride. I talked to my GF about doing a ss1k but she said no, her longest ride was to Chicago. we arrived on a Friday and returned home on sunday

That would be great if your neice could do the ride. I'm trying to generate some interest for the Gals to do some of these rides. I have promoted the ride with the MC Beemer Club. They have several female riders, one that already has her IBA number.

slabghost :

Hope you can find time to join us on a ride in the future. Keep an eye on the IBA Calendar at ironbutt.com .

I should have at least two scheduled rides next year out of Grand Rapids, and another BIG ride ( around all the five Great Lakes ) that will start & end in Kalamazoo.

That will be a great ride !! I did my first back in 2011. Two options - Do the ride in < 100 hours ( Great Lakes Challenge , about 2,475 miles ) or do a slightly longer ride around all five Great Lakes in < 72 hours ( Great Lakes SS3K ). To attempt the SS3K a rider would need to already have an IBA number.

I'm hoping to join the Lake Huron SS1k ride this year on my gl1100 (sans sidecar).

Great News !! You may pre-register or register the morning of the ride. There is one GL1500 registered already, BTW. Hope to see more Wings .....

do you plan on a lake Michigan IBA ride next year jim

Yes, Sir , you betcha !!

And a MIO ( Michigan / Indiana / Ohio ) SS1K

and a Great Lakes Challenge ( around all 5 Great Lakes in < 100 hours ) or a Great Lakes SS3K ( for those Riders who just need more than a SS1K )

with the alternator charging on my 1200 wing I'm going to put some driving lights on it, hook up the power outlet, and put the plug on for some heated gear so if my niece decides she wants to do the MIO ride she can keep warm and light up the road

congrats tom!!
I got up to the speedway station just as the ride was about to start. then somewhere between imlay city and port huron my waterproof pants decided they didn't want to be waterproof anymore and so did my boots. I can deal with wet feet but the water from the pants was being absorbed by my shirt. I made it about a half hour out of London before heading back to London. still not warm I decided to head home
