If this was mine which it's not but anyway, I'd do away with the frame and find a rust free frame somewhere if you can, the rust in all throught the insides of the tubeing...I would never fully trust it even if I fixed it up..
beav is 100 percent Right but it is your life not mine

Reading through all the different forums it is my understanding that these old GL's had 'open' frames vs. a 'sealed' frames? I'm sure any bike out there without a 'sealed' frame is going to have rust inside of them especially ones this old. Could there be some rust inside the tubes? Possibly...

Everything is being examined as it come of the bike...it is worth repairing or replacing?

With that much visible rust in some critical joints, it may be worth it to get another frame. They come up on ebay all the time and they are usually pretty cheap. There is also salvage yards. It is not typical to see this much rust on an 1100 frame that is in service.

For my money (and safety) I would not take a chance on that frame. These are heavy bikes and those rust spots are at stress points of the frame. For example, the picture with the chrome circle is the swing arm. The rust next to it extends back and through the joint. The connection at the bottom is the removable engine frame and it is rusted right at the bolt connections. My point is....this is the obvious and visible rust, not the rust that is buried deeper in the frame. The steel has been significantly weakened.

gee weex guys it not that bad ....it needs to be look at thuraly for sure and there might be a big problem but im betting its not .....but ioseneed to gr full treatment and repair if needed ....that frame dosnt put e off at all....

I would clean up the rust real good then because I would be worried about it, drill a small hole in the worst of it to see how much metal is still there. Small I mean like a 1/16th inch drill bit.
When you poke through will tell how rusted (or not) it is.
If need be then weld up the hole and add support where needed.
