This morning, George a.k.a. here as "vegaswingnut" my friend Paul and I made a run to the same bone yard mentioned above.

With the dawn a chill rose above the desert sand as we made our way towards our chosen prey. Stealthily we maneuvered over, around, and under lesser prey, for we had our eyes glued to our target. The beast was large and badly injured, the pickings would be easy. We descended upon her like hyenas with greedy eyes, fangs drooling, and slashing claws...the sounds and scents of the carnage became a heady aroma and the air filled with electricity. My head began to buzz, and I looked at the others in my hunting party with fear and distrust. I wanted it all for myself, but my instinct told me I must share or perish. We had opened the carcass wide and it's tasty morsels were exposed. Joyously we fed, bounding from one side of the carcass to the other, bathed in the beasts vital fluids and clinging bits of gore. The sound of ratchets against metal curiously mimicking the sound of teeth gnawing through gristle and bone.......and then it ended as quickly as it began. There was more to feast on, but after several returns for more, we found that we could feast no more this day. With our bellies full and hanging closely to the ground we made our way out of the bone yard. Looking back over my shoulder with a happy tear in my eye, I cried out "Your sacrifice was necessary and honorable, through you others will live on to remember you and your gifts!" And then to no one in particular I quietly said, "today was a good day, but our honorable prey is getting harder find. I fear one day..."

Today's meal $80

2 speaker pods with working speakers(yeah they work George!)
L clutch lever assembly
R brake lever assembly
side stand with like new rubber tip
R and L rear turn signals
Markland fork stabilizer
12v regulator/rectifier
L driver foot peg
fuel pump
L lower fairing cover plate

George got two things and the guy charged him $20  I always start out with "well, I'm hoping we can make a deal, my wife won't let me spend **** on my bike," and it has worked twice now. Plus, like George said "these guys have no idea what this stuff is worth to us."

**I had fun writing this post so I brought it back.

That was a good find.. Ive heard of a motorcycle junk yard outta town from me and im thinkin of makin a trip up there to see to see if i can find any goodies

We have just one. Johnson and Wood.
Last time I was there I was in the neighborhood an stopped in to ask if they had a 84 1200 engine.
They told me they won't sell the complete engine because they make more money breaking it down to parts.

Needed a 1200 head for Suzies bike, $90! No cam and one bad valve.
These guys are such thieves.

Ya but last winter I carried 4 complete engines - best I could do is $200 for one of em and then i had to throw everything in - I just finished breaking the last one down and I will be scrapping the blocks on Saturday - takes a lot of maintenance to keep an engine good through a cold winter (specially stored in a shed) from now on they get broken up in September.

The issue I see is because there is so little wrong with the basic engine that by the time someone needs one he really needs a new bike. Heck even the stators are lasting these days. If they were not so much work to get out that might be different
