To confirm, ANY 80-83 OEM or aftermarket trunk rack for the Interstate or Aspencade would work(?).

no, you're looking for a trunk rack that matches the bag/crashbar units on your bike already,

for the standard oem bags and trunk offered by honda on the 1100 line, one of these 2 racks is what you are after, they match the parts already on the bike
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=22

there are other setups out there, including from hondaline, that have their own unique mounts, for bags and trunks

don't hesitate to ask questions, it can be confusing and it doesn't help that alot of sellers on ebay don't necessarily know what they have or how to describe it accurately, so, very easy to end up with a wrong part

Thanks again for the patient explanations! I just did not want to end up with the wrong rack.

Can't wait to see the bags on the bike... :Egyptian:

might have to find a coupla splash guards, that you can see in this pix

stock color is black and they each mount with 2 bolts apiece

I found a good 1983 rack, installed it and found that I completely ignored to think about the turn signals....

The bags collide with them so unless I get a trunk with integrated turn signals I have to relocate the brake light/turn signal assembly.

I assume this has already been done...any recommendations how to do this?

The Interstate bags have built-in "lights". Are these for the break or turn signals or just "illumination"? Would my 1981 Standard have a connector to plug the wires in?

Thank you!

Are the lights in the bags single filament or double filament?

Single filament, 23 Watts. The "light" is orange colored.

Wire them as turn signals and keep the original brake light in the center. That's what I'd do.

mine are single filament turnsignals, that's the standard setup

you can get a controller that turns them into running, brake and turnsignals, even with the single filament

~ 50 bucks

i'm mounting a few other turnsignals including led strips, prob around the rear corners of the trunk rack, and on the front mirrors for more visibility, also,
if i run without the bags, as i am now to try out new shocks, i'll still have signals

there are also 2 mounting points built into the rear ends of the rack for up to 2 antennas

Can you post a pic of the tail end of the bike?

The light in your last picture is not original, need to see the back end pic to see what you got.

Here is the tail end. Sorry for the poor picture quality.

I wish I could keep the original blinkers. I think the slightly higher location makes them more visible.
