Most of you have been following the saga of "Phoenix" from beginning to end. Alas, I've been unable to find a suitable engine replacement that either A: I can afford, or 2:I won't have to worry about.

I've been poking around at the NAGF for a while and think I may have just run across the deal of a lifetime. Chris Lemke, better known as AspectOne there, posted that he had a 1984 1200 Interstate that he's willing to let go for $2000. I made him an offer of my wife's little Suzuki GZ250 and "Phoenix", with the stipulation that the wife says okay, and I think we have a deal. My biggest hurdle is going to be getting the wife to agree to it.

I'm not getting my hopes up just yet, but I think I'm bettering my self in the long run. The 1200 needs a little cosmetic work, but nothing that a couple of trips to ebay and a few favors cashed in can't fix.

I've dealt with Chris on some parts for "Phoenix" before and he's a stand up guy, so I'm sure he's telling me everything that I need to know about the old girl. The only thing that I'm sure I'm going to have to get for it is a trailer hitch, a set of passenger boards, and a set of highway boards.

Here are the pics that I got from his post.

thompson the 84 1200 is the best greared 1200 for the hiway cruising i think its a great deal for you ...... i would like to have one .......good luck on the wife thing  as she must love her bike a lot for you to be so concerned ........

Nah, I just try not to make deals with stuff titled to her without her permission. I spend enough time in the dog house, trying to get back in the big house with this one.

Just talked to momma about the deal that I set up without her knowledge, and got the go ahead to trade her little bike and "Phoenix" for a new to us 84 1200. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I'll be setting up a time to pick it up with Chris a little later, but this means I won't have to wait and find another engine now. I know this one is good.

I believe that the 84 had the integrated brakes, which I don't like. They take some getting used to. They are alot more agile than the older ones.
My 2 cents worth.

Sorry to hear the Phoenix might be going away, after all the work you put into it, but....a bike that runs is worth two that don't!
Good luck on the deal, and maybe you'll find another one for Mama. :eek:k:

plskthompson1,
congrats bro.
back in the saddle real soon.
I might know of a couple 1200's for parts. will check on the things you mentioned.

Thanks for that. I'm going to see if A1 will let me keep the hwy pegs I have, until I can find a set of hwy boards. I'm mainly interested in finding the trailer hitch first. I've got 3 trailers and nothing to pull any of them.

A bike from AspectOne is a sold bike.

~O~

I agree. I've dealt with him before and never been burned. I'm sure he'll shoot me straight with it.

Yeah, it was kind of a hard decision for me to let her go considering all the work, but I agree that 1 running is worth two that aren't. I'm not so sure that momma's going to want to learn to ride right now any way. We'll see.

Beautiful Bike.... :music3:
Thank you sir. I haven't seen it other than the pics, but if everything goes right, I'll have her back home by the end of the week.

Great news! I would like to see your sig picture transform from Phoenix to your 1200.

Yeah how 'bout the way it is with the addition of the 1200, that'd be cool.
