Look,
I know owner's of antique bikes like to talk shortcuts to repairs but this forum is simply overrun with repair topics.
Tip's and repair how to's are important, but does anyone actually ride and enjoy their bike?
Now I like wrenching on bikes almost as much as riding but not quite.
If all had to do was wrench on one I would sell it for something more dependable.
I ride the heck out of my bike and maybe I'm just lucky, but it does it trouble free.
We should be out touring and sharing great ride stories etc.
Maybe I'm just unrealistic or need to join another adventure forum but, wowser.
Sorry for the rant.

Haven't riden any for over a week now as the DD is still impassable. I still haven't fitted up the new rear tire to Red but if I am desperate for a ride I can do that and take Red to the bottom of the driveway in the trailer so that I can go for a ride  :moped: :good: Ever since the rain washed out the driveway on the first of May it has been perfect Autum riding weather, fresh in the morning and clear skies even got up to 30c on Thursday :(

Well...at this point we have 1423 registered members. Keeping these old gals on the road is the purpose of the Classic Goldwings forum. Without repairs, we can't ride them at all. Same thing with any of our other vehicles....if left neglected, they stop working, and/or leave you stranded on the side of the road. Of course, there are plenty of other topics related to enhancing the performance, or making cosmetic improvements, but...if it ain't running, and in riding condition, looking purdy isn't really high on the list of "to do".
Enjoy the forums here...take what ya need, and leave the rest for someone else. :good: :moped:

The problem with the old wings are that so many have been left neglected, either folks don't understand them or leave them sitting when they break or worse ride them to the ground because they don't know how to work on them.
A wing that is up to snuff will run every time rain or shine.

Welcome to the forums. Most of us do ride pretty regularly. I've been riding every day for a while now. Wilcoy will be leaving soon with a few others for a ride to Alaska. I have plenty of "spare" bikes to wrench on. When I have time.

It's pretty hard to post when you are riding :smilie_happy:
Much easier to post when you are working on it

I wrench because I like to, and pass on what I learn to others.
What's wrong with that? Absolutely nothing, at all.

A lot of the guys ride, they just don't post about it.
This must be true.

Yes, I agree and completely get that.
Guess I just expected more of a balance.

Oh yes if anyone has a valid reason to be a totally garage bound tinkeraholic, it's you.
I've seen your hideous driveway, seriously have you considered atv'ing to soothe your
riding desires?

Ha, ha, I know what you mean.

Terry I have posted a couple of videos on riding etc and I definitely prefer it to wrenching. That said I am old school and believe that I need to be able to fix my bike or I don't get to ride. Plenty of times I have ridden with overfueling or suspect running conditions rather than be stuck at home working on my bike. I currently have 3 bikes registered and 3 more that I should be working on not including a mates CBX that I need to finish. I don't ride with poor tires, brakes or suspension ( even though the Rats Nest could do with some upgrades IMHO). My brother Kim and I are still running on our memories of riding from LA to Sturgis and back in Aug 2013 ( 6 1/2 days 4200miles) with as many twisties and hero roads as possible :moped: :good:

like when, the kid down the street gets a mini bike.and sees my bike.or around here 4 wheelers..and stops bye.you help him work on his bike, and show him:".its not what you ride..its if you ride..." then he or she will understand.no-bike prejudice..i enjoy helping, the kids, all over my neighborhood.not everybody has a lot of money for new bikes..i myself would not own one.why have something you can,t fix... :moped: :music:
