I gotta say I finally tried the new armored jacket out in the heat. I sprained my back earlier in the week and hadn't a chance to try it out. It was close to 90 degrees (should be about 100 now) and put about 25 miles on the bike. At 90 deg. I have no complaints. It's so much cooler than the other jacket I've worn. They say the material (Carboflex) is ultra-breathable but I had my doubts. Didn't look like much of a mesh but it really works well. I might take the bike out a bit later. It's 99 deg. right now (just checked). This is usually the hottest time of the day. For right now the jacket gets :good: :good: :good:

Good news Aaron...always nice to find the item you bought works right...
njoy,
Brian
I tried the jacket again at 100 deg. temp. :heat: All I can saw is that its tolerable not comfortable. It still (the jacket) met my expectations for sure. I been to your website. Seeing the USA? Nice. Hope to do that myself some day. Happy trails! Aaron
:salute:

Hi Aaron...I hear you! I don't think anything is comfortable at that high a temp...it is just HOT! I found with my meshtec jacket if I pour water over me when I stop for gas, it helps hugely...obviously not something you would do if you were riding to work or to the store...but on a trip it works well.

Thanks for visiting my blog...I have been pretty slow on it lately....not too much going on travel-wise and I am spending all my time on this renovation of my sidecar rig...getting close to being on the road though.

I am a little slow on the wiring since I am using a donor harness instead of the old one and some of the stuff isn't matching up right....I enjoy that stuff though.

Stay well and thanks for the good wishes....

Hey Brian
Did a Google search for Airdura fabric. Lots of information available. Sounds a bit like Carboflex, the material used in my jacket but couldn't find a comparison. The one your looking at seems like it may be lighter and with vents. Sound like it may be cooler than mine. Mine doesn't have vents but the vents haven't help me in the past because of the windshield and fairing. Just FYI, the Fieldsheer Corsair is a closeout at $89. (Motorcycle Superstore) with the next cheapest closeout price through Amazon was $237 (list $309.). It was hard for me to make a decision. If I had seen the one your interested in, I still might be undecided.
Whatever helps beat the heat best :heat:

a bit off topic, but has anyone tried those "cooling" vests? The kind that you soak in water and then it uses evaperation to cool you off? Yesterday we had our 30th day this year OVER 100 degrees. Needless to say, my riding has been slightly limited

Hi Aaron....I looked and actually posted a reply but for some reason it didn't post....

I keep dragging my feet and waiting for the right one to come through on Ebay...dunno if it will though...thanks for the info....

Matt, It totally depends on the humidity where you ride...if it is at all humid you would just be wet and hot instead of wet and cool.

Where I live in the desert, those work well, although I find a bottle of water dumped all over my mesh jacket at every stop works every bit as well minus the cost of another garment.

As usual YMMV,
Brian

the part of Oklahoma I am mostly in is dry, the part I am sometimes in, is more humid. I have certainly done the "take off my shirt in the bathroom and soak it" routine. Was hoping somebody had some real world experience with those vests.

Well shoot, that would have been just fine Dr. Buzz...just that I am a xxl and no such luck...thanks though, maybe someone else can take advantage....
I like it since I don't really need a liner...I have the other stuff...ie: windbloc fleece and light rain jacket.
Oh well nice try,

Hi all, I just bought this guy:

https://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/cl ... t.html?s=a

Check out the price! If you don't mind the color, it is a helluva deal....blue is one of my favorite colors so it is good for me...I prefer silver in a mesh jacket but at $29 I will happily wear blue!

This is exactly the same brand and style jacket I already have just about worn out so I know I really like i!
:good:

As usual, YMMV,

Nah, it's not you Dan, there is a conspiracy amongst moto gear makers. They have developed a secret ingredient that causes the gear to shrink once a year, usually in the winter and our gear gets smaller and smaller...even the leather...the rats!!! It is an insidious plot to get us to buy more gear!

Ah, now for brekkie!

I must have the wrong gear. It still fits. That was a great deal on the jacket but on me it'd be a wifebeater. :smilie_happy:

That is a great deal on that Jacket, my Mesh Jacket is still in good shape so I don't need one.
I think it's gravity making the Jackets smaller pulling down so hard on us it's making us wider. :smilie_happy:
