My son is on the way home from CAMP LEJUENE and his truck broke down.Assumably burn up the motor.
I need someone familier with the are to help find a yard to sell the truck to,and round up a PENSKE truck or such to get his bike home.
Anybody in that area?
His grandfather flew down to ride home with him,but that is not much help.

Looks like theres several Penskes dealers in Parkersburg. One on St. Mary St. # is 304-485-6520. Might be better to trailer it all home cause they won't give you nothing for the truck if they figure out your trying to dump it quick. Good Luck.

They are just south of parkersburg in mineral wells WV

It ran fine once cooled down, but they need to find the cause and hope they didnt do catostrophic damage.

PENSKE wants $800.00 for there smallest truck which is not very small.I am farther ahead borrowing a pick up and trailor and going after them. But I cant do that untell tomorow night.

The plan is to put in a new temp guage, fill up some jugs and take it one exit at a time.
They are 500 miles home.My GWRRA towing covers 100 miles. The closer they get to home, the better off we will be.

If it's a rad leak or pump leak, a box of regular black pepper in the rad will take you down the road a ways, or a can of Bar's Leak in the rad will stop up the leak for a good while. If all else fails they sell liquid glass that will seal up a head gasket or cracked water jacket but you play hell getting the heads off if you try to repair it, but it can be done. Good Luck.

Thanks joe,
They are way west of you on 77

The truck is not leaking. It sounds as if the water is not circulating.Perhaps a little to much stop leak from earlier maybe?
Once cooled down and refilled it idled at about 210.So they made an attempt to drive a little farther and it runs right up to 280.

There is no thermostat.I am thinking a plugged radiator.

what year, model and motor, you can turn the heater on so water circulates thru it and help a little but it gets warm inside. Take the rad cap off after it cools down and see if theres circulation.

I have a step-son in the Charleston/St. Albans area that is a half-a$$ed mechanic. Don't know how far your son is from there, but I'm sure he would be able to at least check and see what the problem is. Sounds like the water pump is prolly shot. What kind of truck is it?

I'm just inside the ohio line from there. A bit north of 70. If he can get to Ohio 7 and come north to 22 west. I'll be happy to help what I can to fix it.

Heck if it's not too far I can drag it here with my motor home.

Good news
Although the garage where they were was not to interested in helping out if he could not schedule and bill the whole job, they did find a radiator shop in mineral wells.
This place was very helpfull and help him diagnos it a bit with a pressure test and a combustion leak test which all came back promising. They then allowed him to remove the radiator in there lot,and cleaned it up real good, repaired a couple iffy spots and flushed the motor out at a very reasonable cost.

They have been back on the road for about 4 hours now with no troubles.

:clapping: :music: :clapping:
That's great news. Hope he makes the rest of the trip with no problems. I guess the problem was the radiator leaking, and/or stopped up?

Yes, if he remembers the name of that shop and the location, it would be a great idea to list it here, just so anyone in that area knows that these guy's are willing to go the extra yard to help someone out.. Seems like today, a lot of places could care less anymore..
