Tagged, titled, and road legal!
Rode it to werk this mernin. Freekin awesome it is! Still feels like I'm on a mini-bike, but I'll eventually get used to it. I gotta get some floorboards, and hiway pegs/boards, tho. Foot pegs just ain't in the right spot for me, and I keep tryin to put my feets up on the hiway pegs, but there ain't none there! Plus, my big azz boot barely fits between the foot peg and the shift peg on the left side.
Got some slack in the throttle cable too...need to tighten that up a smidge. I can twist the barrel aboot 1/2 inch before anything happens. Easy enough to do. Everything seems to work on it, far as I can tell. Well...except the ciggy lighter outlet. It's kinda rusty on the inside, and...it ain't even wired up! Gotta git a new one installed and wired so I can mount my radar defector.....gotta keep an eye out for the party poopers!
Today, when I get home, I'm proly gunna run the 1100 around back, and put it up on the deck, and cover it for now. Got too much other crap goin on to even attempt to start working on it. I need to get the problem fixed on it, one way or anudder, but I'm in no hurry. Mama's Cad is down as of yesterday, too.....dam fuel pump took a dump, so I gotta take care of that pronto! :Doh2:
Anyway...I think I'mma gunna really like the new bike, once I get used to how different it is from "The Turd". I been riding the Turd for over 8 years now, and the new one is so much different.
Overall, so far, I'm really pleased with the upgrade.

My son in law kept the highway boards I got him for his 1500 when he sold it, I can see if I can get them. They look like the original Markland brand.

That would be kewl!(assuming I can afford them) :beg:

There was what might be a problem arising on the ride home this evenin....I felt a vibration on deceleration. Very possibly a driveshaft u-joint. :headscratch: Dint feel it this mornin tho, nor have I felt it any other time I've ridden it. Might just be my 'magination, too.
When I pulled into the shop this mornin, the right side saddlebag lid was all the open... Thankfully, nothing had fallen out. I think it popped open when I pulled into the shop parking lot. EVERY street in that area has a 2"-3" "curb" where the street meets a driveway/parking lot. Don't know why, but it's like that everywhere over there. I assume it's for some kind of water control...who knows. I think the bag popped when I bounced up on that "curb", even tho I take it slow. On the 1100, the front end would bottom out if I went too fast over it, so I got to where I would creep over it.
Other than that, the ride to/from werk today was great. :ahem:

hey joel, once I got use to my 1500 wing I found it to be more stable and handle much better than my 1200 wing. the 1200 wing steered quicker but it had a shorter wheelbase and shorter over all length but 1500 wings don't feel that good when the air pressure in the tires get low

:thanks:

Is it "normal" on the 1500s for the throttle to be so danged hard to twist? My 1100 I can flip the throttle easily with just one finger/thumb. This 1500 takes a heavy hand. That's one of the reasons I took the air box off last week, besides changing the filter. I wanted to see if there was a way to make the throttle not be so stiff.....but I can't see any way to change it. The return springs(clocksprings) are on the carb throttle shafts...no way to adjust them, that I can see. It's pretty hard on my forearm to hold the throttle open on the road, plus it makes it a little more tricky on take-offs, and turns.
It's not the cables, either....those are both fine, and move easily in the outer sheathing. I gotta figure out some way to lessen the spring tension.... :builder:

I found out(well, I kinda already knew, but...) that when you put the side stand down, it kills the engine. I pulled up to the house ast nite, and popped the stand down while the engine was still runnin, and it shut down. Scared me for a couple of seconds, until I realized what had happened.... :Doh2:

Otay, one more quick inquiry...the key will not turn all the way to the left(lock position), nor will it turn all the way to the right(park light position). I'm assuming the 1500 has those positions, since it says so in the Owner's manual. Wonder what the heck is up wid dat? I've sprayed the key cylinder with penetrating erl, but no help. It' feels like there is just no more positions on the cyinder other than Off, accessory, and Run..... :headscratch:

I do recall the 1500 I rode twisted harder than my 1100 but not so hard it was a bother.
Cables can seem like they move ok in the jacket but could still slide easier after lubing them. Made a big difference on my 1100.

For sure, I'll add my voice to those already congratulating you on a fine upgrade.

...but, but, but, I am just about 100% sure that you're the very first person to say that a fifteen hunnert goldie feels like a mini-bike!

aint that the truth :smilie_happy:

Joel make sure that your back wheel is all buttoned up correctly as it seems strange that you now have a "uni" noise. Are you turning the wheel when you try to use the lock and park function? Keep up the feedback. :good:

Is that a tall Tulsa windshield? If it is it needs a soft cover to put on it to when parked in the sun to prevent the glare from melting your dashboard. I have a Tulsa short and learned the hard way that "yes I have to use the cover." :Doh2:
