Just bought a 1984 GL1200 Aspencade and am looking for the basic information as
well as ideas for on problem area I found. Head Lights.
Need an idea of the shift points.
Also best rule of thumb for rear shock loading, weight VS pounds in the shocks.
We started looking at the 84 Aspencade back in 86 but were too strapped to buy one.
So we settled on the 1981 CX 500. Then a year latter found out we were expecting
a project of another kind. Fast forward about 15 years and I bring the CX out of retirement.
We enjoyed it, going camping and getting out when we could. Then about 7 years ago our
fortune changed and we started looking again. We discovered the Goldwings really hold their
value. We opted on the Road king. I picked the 883 up for peanuts and enjoyed knocking around on it.
When the milage on the Road Kind started getting up there we decided to get a used Ultra and enjoyed
pulling our Rollahome trailer around with it. Then this week my wife said she emailed me something and wanted me
to be the voice of reason. I took one look at the bike and said "Lets get it"! The price was right and it was time
to satisfy that itch. We brought it home yesterday, I got insurance today and we took it for a 70 mile spin around sundown.
Enough of an entro I'd say.
We are in Oklahoma and I am a daily rider, except for ice. I don't do ice.
