Hey guys! I'm new to the forum, living in southwest Georgia, just a little north of the Florida line. I have a 1982 GL1100 Interstate. When I got it, it was a total mess. Since, I have installed a new exhaust, (using harley bagger mufflers) Had to replace the right cylinder head, new fuel pump, rebuilt the carbs, new starter, new seals and bushings in the forks, converted ignition to a dodge neon coil with bosch 7mm resistor wires, spin on oil filter conversion, rebuilt rear shocks... I got the bike with the intention of a quick sale to make a little extra cash. I had no intention of riding it, because I'm still young, and a goldwing is for old guys, right? Well, after getting it back to top condition, the only way I would part with it would be to buy another one. I wish I had known how nice these things were 20 years sooner! Anyway, I'm glad I found the site, and look forward to meeting everyone!
Ride safe.
Darren

Welcome to the forum Darren.
The GL didnt start out that way, and may have gone the way of the Dodo bird if they weren't so popular with the touring class, I remember them in 75` in the showroom and being intimidated by the engineering and sheer size of the bike, you see 750 was as big as they went.
The Gl kept many aftermarket manufactures in the money till the 80 interstate model arrived and
what a year 1980 was with the introduction of the CBX and CB750F later followed by the 900F they no longer needed a naked wing in the 1000CC class, It was never really a track bike anyways, just an engineering marvel.
Watch out though..You may get multiple GL syndrome

Thanks for the warm welcome! Zman, I am afraid I have already caught the bug. I am in the middle of negotiations on an '84 right now. Just gotta figure out how to hide it from the wife.
