Might be able to mount an alternator in the center of the bike. I like the carbs someone put on there.

Good thought on the alternator. Would that be an internal external alternator?

I did the carb work using Randakk's intake manifolds. His site goes into pretty exhaustive detail on the conversion. So far, I'm happy with them. The linkage was a bit fiddly to get set up, but it's rock solid now. Here is a picture of the other side:

That is the most unusual looking front I've ever seen! Is that home made?

The front end was made by Unit in England, but was for a '78 instead of my '77. As a result, I needed to replace the calipers, wheel, and speedo drive to fit. I've got it set in a pretty conservative mode right now. I'll probably pull the wheel back a little more (move it to the other set of holes) to reduce the trail even more. Will probably need a steering stabilizer (damper) at that point. Right now its very stable without anything.

Think of it as a slightly more modern Earles front end, like on a /2 BMW. The whole objective is to reduce trail to decrease steering effort.

I ran across the front end "cheap" so it was a lot less than a steer-rite mod or the like. I like it. Unit still makes these front ends:

On the next revision, I'll probably add floating brake calipers as the current setup has some rise under heavy braking (like all the older Earles forks did as well). Floating calipers are a pretty hotly debated topic in the sidecar world. Kind of like our oil and tire threads.
