Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I have a 2002 honda shadow ace and am a member for that forum but I just came across a wing that I could not pass up. It is a 1980 GL1100. Rough looking bike but mostly all there. Story I was told it sat for many years. I do know motor turns freely. Odometer reads 33000. All numbers even like it has not rolled over but don't anything for a fact. Hope to learn as much as I can and bring her back to life.

Welcome from Southern California! Looks like you're off to a a great start! If it sat for many years, you've gat quite a project ahead of you, but you'll love it!

Welcome from North TEXAS DFW area..... a quick trick to check Speedo and odo... disconnect Speedo cable v at wheel...take a reversible drill Chuck the 1/4 inch straight screwdriver bit in it... but the tip on the cable drive and run drill in reverse... thou should see about 30 mph on the meter .. and if you have some one watch the odo.. it will move some.. if no cable maybe they removed a broken cable or .... heaven forbid ... to try sell as low mileage at a later date and it sat too long and they forgot.....

Thanks for the tip. Will be tearing into her in the next few weeks. Picked her up for $200 so not real worried about it.

80 is a nice choice. Plenty of help here. You supply the parts and effort and folks here can help you fix just about anything.

I also get my propane tanks for my garage filled there. :) As far as I know they are the only place to rent trailers from lol. Nice thing is she is mostly there not a lot of missing parts to find.

The vet ter stuff has held up well. There is some peeling on the Windjammer will be looking for a way to clean it up. Not sure about trying to repaint it
