Hi all. I realized a life long dream last summer when I purchased a 1985 GoldWing GL 1200 Interstate.
I actually started riding when I was in my twenties when I purchased a Kawasaki 200 cc which came in pieces. I worked for a welding fabrication company at that time and assembled the bike after work hours. Finally assembled I took my first ride, first gear, second, third and bamm! Pushing a motorcycle is not much fun. Back at the shop I pulled the engine cracked the case found the dogs on the forth gear sheared off. Not being one to be defeated I took the gear and welded new dogs and machined them to specs. After reassembly, correctly this time, I drove home with my new motorcycle.
The Kawasaki was replaced with a 1982 Honda SilverWing GL 500 (not the motor scooter thats called SilverWing today). It was a great bike for one up riding and I spent many a year enjoying the machine. But about 10 years ago I developed back problems and thought I would never ride again. So the SilverWing was sold.
Now retired, I often thought about riding again. Then who would have thought, my next door neighbor tells me his brother was selling his GoldWing for $400.00. So after two new tires and a new battery I'm a clasic GoldWing owner.
