Ok I'll go out on a limb & say this. Since you have a 1200 I'll say it PROBABLY has been changed by now. The 1200 stator problem was a pretty cronic issue. Back in the day when they were new their were 2 types of 1200's. Ones who's stators failed & the ones that were going to fail. All that were going to fail probably have done so by now. Since just about every 1200 had the stator problem.
Seems (If my fried brain remembers correctly) :Awe: once the stator was replaced & hard wired (Whatever that ment) The stator problems disapeared.
Of course as any bike ages & the miles pile up all what I just said could be thrown out the window. :nea:
Don't hold me to this. Been a long time.

I've NEVER replaced a stator on my 1500 of my 1000 cc GoldWings

You do know something after all, Which is that nobody knows nothing :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Its really hard to know if you have an OEM or aftermarket Stator but OEM Stators have Yellow leads and the windings are not coloured, many aftermarket stators have blue or green coloured windings (often the leads are other colours as well). Most the new OEM Stators last pretty well these days and are worth installing but I have heard of some horror stories where guys bought aftermarket units off eBay that didn't last.

Ran into what i believe to be a honda replacement some time ago. It had heavier gauge wire, like all do, but with stock looking connections, very much neater job, than after market ones, have. Just saw this topic so, thought this might help.
