1988 GL1500
Hello from Central Illinois.
I started riding in 1971 with a CB350 for the road and a DT250 for the dirt. I sold those when the Air Force sent me to Okinawa and bought a GT750 "Water Buffalo" there. I shipped that bake back to the US and kept it until 1984 when I got orders for Europe. Family and career kept me off bikes after that until I totally retired in 2006.
I got back into bikes by purchasing a used 85 GL1200I. It now has over 100,000 miles on it and I have no intention of retiring it. It runs so good that yesterday I followed a Harley rider over to the Harley shop (80 miles) and brought him back on the Honda because his bike had to stay at the shop for maintenace.
I picked up a 78 GL1000 last year and it is now running good, I don't ride it much, but see no reason to get rid of it.
I picked up an 83 GL1100A last Feb that I'm currently returning to service and hope to have it running next week.
The patient after that is an 84 GL1200I (basket case) that I want to turn into a trike fairly soon, so I'll be looking for triking info.
The wife and kids keep asking my why I buy new cars and trucks, but refuse to get a new cycle. My answer is "I can't work on the new bikes". If you understand that, no explanation is needed. If you don't, no explanation is possible.
regards.
