nice bike littlebeaver but like mark said the new schwinns are not the same as the schwinns we grew up with. my last new schwinn was a '93 serra. mountian bikes are not very efficent on the road so look on craigs list for a world tourist or something like it when you get back in the groove. the light weight framed schwinns from the late '70's and into the '80's are some of the best. look on the head tube, most have where the bike was made on the head tube.
or maybe you would like something like this .. https://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/bik/2908628954.html
My best friend had one of those but his was lime green, gosh that was a long time ago..I was little

Once you get the hang of it, ain't nothing but a thing. The front wheel drive took a little bit to master, but it's great in that it gets your upper body involved, which translates to more power to the drive wheel. Not quite as good as standing up on a regular road bike, but getting close. Only downfall is on steep grades, if the pavement is dirty, or uneven, you can spin the front wheel.

detdrbuzzard: a lot of those old Schwinns got snapped up by the scenester kids and converted to fixed gear bikes.

I agree, though, that a good, lightweight road bike can be found on Craigslist for pretty good prices. A friend of mine picked up an aluminum frame Trek with a carbon fiber fork and rear triangle and decent level components for 500. It hadn't been ridden much and has worked out real well for him.

Ride the heck out what you got, littlebeaver, but be on the lookout for your next ride. Look around locally for a riding club, too. There are social clubs that aren't racing oriented you can get into. The main reason is to cut the learning curve. You'll learn where to ride, how to ride and so much more than you can ever imagine.

well, I set my mind to painting my bike and doing it to the best of my ability so I'm one determined guy when I set my mind to anything I go for..My goal is 200 lbs then 180 later..And to have a tighter body once more..Instead of being a jelly belly like I was..Knee's are feeling better too.

The only thing better than a bicycle is a motorcycle.

That front wheel drive bike is cool looking but if you have to steer would your leg hit the front tire/wheel?

I ws thinking that if you ever ran into something your privite parts may get seriously damaged  :Awe: It might could hurt a bit..

You actually steer with your hips and lean. That's part of the learning curve to mastering FWD. Normal body English you learn on an upright bike work against you on FWD. Once your body relearns how to ride, it's as stable and true as anything and will turn on a dime. Hard to understand until you hop on one.

Nah, you're overthinking it! Your legs are on the pedals out front, so they would stop your inertia. Besides, why would you go around running into stuff? But..... Going with your train of thought; should you run into something on your upright, what happens? You go over the handlebars and land on your noggin. Wear a helmet.

Ok guy's I confess, I was told to stop honking the horns at Walmart, they had like three and I was playing a tune..
