Last week was not a happy one fer me...Sunday evening I had a pain in my right side abdomen area. Dint think much aboot it...just figured it was somethin I et. Monday comes, it's a little worse...by Wednesday, I was in so much pain I couldn't take it no mo. I took off early frum werk. Thursday to the Doc. His best edjumacated guess was that I had pulled something in the abdominal wall.
A little history...back in '85, I had a really bad car wreck. A '75 Toyota goin against a loaded down 3/4 ton Chevy PU(t-boned right in the center of the front axle of the truck)....I lost. Did a LOT of internal damage, but I survived(obviously). Fast forward to the present...all of the previous internal damage made a sonogram useless...so I simply had to take a break and be immobile....and take lottsa ibuprofen, heat wraps, and stay still. So, today, it's not so bad...still plenty sore, but not in severe pain.
So....what caused this massive pain? I dunno....but Imma guessing it had to do with poppin the 'Wing up on the center stand. There's been a couple of times lately I've had a hard time gettin it up on center. Now I gotta find a way to get that done without poppin a cork. Guess I need to have a chunk of wood to ride up on, so the rear will be a little higher to start with. The rear shocks have air in them, but I might blow a little more in to raise it up a little more...as long as it doesn't make it ride too harsh. Doubt I'll be gettin back on 2 wheels for a few more days yet....
Anyway...just a caution for us older folks...BE CAREFUL!!!!

I never could get my 1100 up on the center stand. My 1200 is easy though. I'm thinking the bar you step on is longer on the 1200. I may add a bit to the 1100 stand to see if that helps. Time does heal but as we get older it doesn't seem to work as well.

I've never been one to listen when the doctor says to stay immobile. If I had after my dirt bike accident years ago I'd probably still be laying there.
Properly excercising the affected area got me back up and around much faster.

I hate my center stand, They should have put a foot pad instead of just a ball, always digs into my shoes.
Hope ya get well soon. Been looking for a place to work out that is inexpensive.I have a feeling it is use it or lose it time , maybe that would help you too.

No one thought about electric center stand retrofit like BMW tourer?

I hate pain!
I had a gout attack last year and that hurts. Literally couldn't sleep at night.

Hope you get well soon!

Tanks fellers! I feels betta already!

I'm werkin today, but I ain't doin much liftin...Boss man threatened to poke me wid a stick iffin I did.
I gots me an "ass-istant"...I could get used to this.... :smilie_happy:
Still sore as heck tho. Hard to bend down to change/tie me shoes, but I cain't wear me house shoes at werk... :nea:
I need to get the 'Wing inspected this coming weekend, so I s'pose we'll see how that goes. If I can handle that ride(2 up wid Mama, aboot 20 mile round trip), I'll be good to go. :yahoo: :moped:

I didn't see a post with the obvious question. Why aren't you using the side-stand? I hope you heal up soon.

Thanks! I prefer to keep it on the center stand for several reasons. Mainly, it's more stable, but it also keeps the oil from running to the left side while parked. If it's started on the side stand, and the oil level is low, it will starve the engine for oil...not a good thing. It also helps to keep fuel from seeping into the left side head from the carbs while parked, especially if the floats are leaking.
But mostly, it's just to keep Mama from bumping into it and knocking it over....but you dint hear that from me..... :whistling: :hihihi:

Getting my 1500 up on the centerstand was a piece of cake compared to my 1000.

I use a piece of 1x4 under my sidestand in my garage so it doesn't lean over so far & also have a piece with a hole drilled in it with some twine through it, I keep in my fairing to use when out.

The centerstand on the 1000 is to much of a pain to use regularly.

Get well soon! My broken bones are healing well. Can ride the Wing again with little pain Going over bumps.

Well...I'm back in da saddle agin today. :yahoo: Rode into work, and parked as normal, but left it on the side stand. I got a short 2x4, to put in front of the rear tire, and pulled it up onto that. Then rocked it up on the center stand....and felt a little twinge o pain.... :sensored:  :crying:
Sooo...I guess I'll be leaving the dang thing parked on the side stand for a while yet....much as I hate to do it. Maybe when Joe gets Hooch running well enough to leave it alone, he can design me an electric(or pneumatic) center stand putter-upper..... :beg: :beg: :beg:
(just kiddin Joe!!) :hihihi:
