I need to look for fiberglass cloth. What I have in my garage is rather too thick and difficult to put in shape.

Update:
Wet-sanded the cap in preparation for fiberglass reinforcement.
It didn't peel off.
Very promising!

Fiberglass cloth applied.
A bit messy because the cloth is so coarse and it falls apart when cut in tiny pieces.
Hopefully it will cleanup after sanding.

a coat of resin and a bit more glass would go a long way toward smoothing it. And add strength. Then less sanding and some paint should finish it. :good:

Update:

Sanded, painted, and tried the cap.

JB Weld sticks to the plastic so well that I am 99% sure it will hold.

Reminds me of the time my gas cap broke during an endueo. I rode 50 miles of dirt trails and fire roads wirh a crotch full of gas. That sure made me go faster so I could get to the end. All most made me faster than the Bike. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:
