hi everybody,i have not done anything with my bike for 8 months, now i am going to try and get back into it again.i have to put it all back together again,i have to put the heads on and i got some Honda belts to put on.my biggest concern is when i get to putting the carburetors in.i put all new Honda valves and valve seals,i lapped the valves but i did not check to see if they will leak.can i do that by pouring some brake fluid in from the top of the head?i am going to take my time doing this, when i get to the carbs though that is where i had problems before.i rebuilt them with all new Honda parts, but it seems like 2&4 are getting to much fuel.i guess i have to recheck the floats?i replaced the pilot screws also,i set them at 1.25 turns out.can i leave them at that or will i wind up having to open them to what some say winds up to be 2.5 turns?well i worry about all that when i get to it.for now i still have to clean the block surface and try to get the gunk out of the water jackets.i got most of it but there's still some in there that's hard to get cause it hardened up.that's about it for now

The pilot jet setting depends on the year. I'd used 91% isopropyl alcohol on the heads. Brake fluid is so corrosive when it gets on things (like if it leaked through to the stem seals). Hope you put in new stem seals while you were at it.

Good luck remembering where you put everything, and where everything goes.

BTW, the small end of the oil orifice goes in the block (with a new o-ring in the groove), then after the dowels and gasket is on the clean block, put the other o-ring on the big end. Torque by the manual with clean, lubricated threads and a good calibrated wrench. Rig up a jug of gas about three feet above the carbs on the bench, put the gas to them and look in the plenum for fuel overflowing a carb.

the bike is a 1980 standard, like i said,i set the pilot screws at 1.25 turns as specified in manual.but when it come to the final adjustment i was wondering if i would have to open them more.when i took it apart i thought about finding everything when i was ready to put it back together, that's why i put everything in order and made notes and markings on things.and thanks for suggesting the use of alcohol instead of brake fluid.just doing it a little at a time.

hi everybody,i finally finished putting my gl1100 back together,it took me 8 months but it was worth the wait.i am amazed at how good it runs now.i had my doubts but i was surprised at how everything went so smooth.i did this on Friday the 13th and had very good luck.maybe because i am not supersticious in the first place.well thanks for the help and encouragement.

Ludwig you need to create a YouTube account and then you can upload your footage there. You can then do as Dan suggested and post the link to your account and video. With a bit of swearing and such you should be able to do it, you could also Google for video help with YouTube
